Rays' Jake Mangum: Lands on injured list
The Rays placed Mangum on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left groin strain, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Mangum was pulled from Wednesday's game after injuring himself running to first base in the fourth inning. Imaging revealed a strain in his groin, so he will now miss at least the next 10 days while he recovers. A minimum-length stay may be all the 29-year-old needs, however, as he said after Wednesday's contest that he wasn't too concerned about the injury. Coco Montes was recalled from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Slated for MRI
Mangum is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday after exiting Wednesday's 7-6 win over Arizona in 11 innings due to left groin tightness, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Mangum grounded out in both of his plate appearances before he was lifted prior to the bottom of the fourth inning due to the injury. He told Bass after the game that he isn't too concerned about the injury, but even if the MRI reveals nothing serious, Mangum would seem unlikely to play in Thursday's series finale. The 29-year-old rookie has been a pleasant surprise for the Rays and fantasy managers alike through the first month of the season, batting .338 with eight stolen bases, seven RBI and seven runs over 21 games.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Exits with injury
Mangum was removed from Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks due to left groin tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Mangum pulled up after failing to beat out a grounder in the fourth inning, and he seemed hesitant to put weight on his left leg. He was able to walk back to the dugout under his own power but was replaced defensively when the Rays took the field. The severity of the 29-year-old's injury remains unknown, though it's possible he misses at least a game or two to avoid playing through any lingering soreness.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Nabs eighth bag
Mangum went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base Saturday against the Yankees.
Mangum started his seventh consecutive game, and he's managed at least one hit in six of them. He offers very little power and hits toward the bottom third of the order, but he has eight steals without being caught and has also scored seven runs across 18 games.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Swipes sixth bag
Mangum went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run Sunday against Atlanta.
Mangum entered Sunday hitless across his last 11 at-bats, but he snapped that streak with a single in the sixth inning. He proceeded to swipe his sixth bag of the season, and he has yet to be caught. Mangum could start to lose out on playing time once Richie Palacios (finger) returns, but he's a solid source of batting average and steals for the time being.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Sitting down Saturday
Mangum isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Mangum will get a chance to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-10 with a strikeout across his last three contests. While Mangum sits, Jose Caballero will start in right field and bat seventh.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Racking up steals
Mangum went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Sunday against the Rangers.
Mangum has started six of eight games since being recalled to the majors March 29. He's earned the playing time by maintaining a five-game hitting streak, also chipping in four RBI, three runs scored and four stolen bases in that span. Mangum isn't likely to be much of a power contributor, but he's shown the ability to chip in everywhere else in the box score.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Perfect at plate with two steals
Mangum went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases in Monday's 6-1 win over Pittsburgh.
Mangum tallied his first major-league RBI with a two-run single in the fourth inning, also adding two steals in the victory. The switch-hitting outfielder has made his way onto Tampa Bay's roster due to Josh Lowe (oblique) being sidelined, and Monday's effort could earn him additional reps in the outfield while Lowe is on the shelf.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Recalled to big club
The Rays recalled Mangum from Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
At 29 years old, Mangum will finally get a chance to make his MLB debut following Josh Lowe's (oblique) move to the injured list. Mangum spent all of last season in Triple-A, slashing .317/.357/.442 with 56 RBI and 20 stolen bases across 428 plate appearances. He'll provide the Rays with some additional outfield depth until Lowe returns.

Rays' Jake Mangum: Beginning season at Triple-A
The Rays optioned Mangum to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.
Along with Kameron Misner and Chandler Simpson, Mangum was one of three players vying for a backup outfield role that was sent to the minors Wednesday. The 29-year-old Mangum is still waiting to make his MLB debut, but the Rays thought highly enough of him to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft and add him to the 40-man roster this winter after he slashed .317/.357/.442 with six home runs and 20 stolen bases over 428 plate appearances for Durham last season.

Mangum hit .317/.358/.442 with six homers and 20 steals with Durham this season. He'll turn 29 in March and has yet to see any action at the big-league level, but the Rays felt it necessary to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.
