Angels' Evan White: Cleared to resume activities
White has been cleared to resume limited activities Monday after experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired left hip Saturday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
White -- who hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2021 -- had surgery on the hip last May. The first baseman was acquired from Atlanta via trade earlier this offseason and is in camp as a non-roster invitee.

Angels' Evan White: Flipped to Halos
The Angels acquired White (hip) and Tyler Thomas from Atlanta on Friday in exchange for Max Stassi (hip/personal) and David Fletcher, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
This is basically a swap of bad contracts, with White's maybe being the worst of them all. He hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2021 and holds a career .544 OPS in 306 plate appearances at baseball's highest level. On top of that, he is currently in recovery mode from May hip surgery. The 27-year-old former top prospect is due $15 million guaranteed between 2024-25 and carries a total of $4 million in buyouts on his club options for 2026, 2027 and 2028.

Braves' Evan White: Pushed off 40-man roster
Atlanta outrighted White (hip) to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
White was just acquired from the Mariners on Sunday as part of the Jarred Kelenic trade, but the 27-year-old former top prospect has already lost his 40-man roster spot. White is a career .165/.235/.308 hitter in 306 major-league plate appearances and missed the majority of the 2023 season following May hip surgery.

Braves' Evan White: Traded to Atlanta
White (hip) was traded from Seattle to Atlanta on Sunday along with Jarred Kelenic and Marco Gonzales in exchange for Jackson Kowar and Cole Phillips.
White is entering his age-28 campaign and is owed $8 million over the next two seasons, but Seattle didn't use him in the majors in 2022 or 2023. Last season was a lost campaign for White, who ended up having hip surgery in May. He hasn't been a league-average hitter since his stint at Triple-A in 2021, and this was primarily a salary dump move by Seattle. White has a career .165/.235/.308 MLB slash line in 306 plate appearances.

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday that White (hip) is expected to be ready for the start of spring training, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
White hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2021 due to a series of severe injuries, but he's made steady progress in his recovery from his latest hip surgery this past May and should be able to enjoy a relatively normal offseason. Mariners' Evan White: Out at least three months
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said he expects White to miss a minimum of three months after undergoing surgery on his left hip May 22, MLB.com reports. "The surgery released the tendon that was impinging his joint and also cleaned up significant scar tissue in and around the hip area," Hollander said. "It will obviously be a lengthy rehab process. I would say three months minimum for him to be back out on a baseball field in some sort of rehab-type activity."
White appears to be headed for another lost season after he required another procedure on the same hip he had surgically repaired in 2021. The 27-year-old is expected to head to the Mariners' spring training complex in Arizona later this week to begin what will likely be an arduous rehab process. The Mariners won't have a more specific timeline for White's return until he gets further along in his rehab, but Hollander's comments suggest the first baseman won't be ready to return from the 60-day injured list until September at the earliest. White had previously been shelved after suffering a Grade 2 left groin strain while playing for Triple-A Tacoma on April 1, with the Mariners later determining after follow-up tests that he needed another hip surgery.

Mariners' Evan White: Ready for spring training
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Wednesday that White (hip) is as "healthy as he's ever been" heading into the start of spring training, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Though White was limited to just 107 plate appearances at Triple-A Tacoma in 2022 due to his prolonged recovery from sports hernia surgery last spring and then closed the campaign on the affiliate's 7-day injured list due to hip discomfort, the 26-year-old looks as though he won't face any restrictions when he reports to camp in Arizona. White is entering the fourth season of the six-year, $24 million deal he inked with Seattle in November 2019, but due to his poor health in recent years and his underwhelming production at the big-league level, the Mariners no longer envision him as their everyday first baseman. He'll get the chance to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster but is most likely to begin the campaign at Tacoma unless an injury to All-Star Ty France opens up an opportunity at first base.
