The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Lewis had to be taken out of Tuesday's game after tweaking his hamstring, and an MRI revealed a strain that will keep him out until at least the final day of the season, though there's no guarantee he'll be ready to play by then. Jordan Luplow will return to Minnesota to replace Lewis on the active roster.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Royce Lewis: Getting MRI this weekend
Lewis (hamstring) will have an MRI when the Twins return home for this weekend's series against the Angels, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. As Hayes says, this situation is still very much to be determined, as a hamstring strain could mean the end of Lewis' regular-season play. The Twins are off Thursday, and Kyle Farmer figures to be an everyday player in the short term, especially with Carlos Correa (plantar fasciitis) landing on the injured list Wednesday.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Dealing with hamstring tightness
Lewis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds due to left hamstring tightness, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Lewis initially stayed in the game after tweaking his hamstring in the sixth inning, but he had to leave after further injuring himself during the eighth frame. Luckily, he's officially listed as day-to-day, so it appears Lewis avoided a significant injury. He could potentially miss a few games to recover before returning to Minnesota's lineup.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Exits with injury
Lewis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds after suffering an apparent injury, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis appeared to tweak something in his leg during the sixth inning, but he was taken out of the game after grimacing following a swing in the eighth. The Twins will take a look at him and should provide more information following Tuesday's game, but fantasy managers should view Lewis as day-to-day for now.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Knocks another homer
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against the Reds. Lewis took Connor Phillips deep for a monstrous 424-foot solo homer in the fourth inning. The former No. 1 pick continues his scorching September, during which he has hit .313 with six homers, 23 RBI and 15 runs over 64 at-bats. Lewis is slashing .308/.364/.551 on the season.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Makes history with another slam
Lewis went 1-for-2 with three walks, a grand slam, a second run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 10-2 win over the White Sox. Chicago's pitching staff wanted nothing to do with Lewis after he drove a Jesse Scholtens fastball over the fence in left field in the second inning with the bases loaded, giving Minnesota a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The 24-year-old third baseman also set a few different records with the blast. Per Joe Pollizze of MLB.com, his four grand slams in 2023 established a new franchise record for the Twins, while Sarah Langs of MLB.com notes that Lewis is the first player in MLB history with five slams among his first 16 career homers. His four grand slams in the last 18 games is also a new record, shattering the prior mark for the shortest such stretch -- 39 games by Don Mattingly in 1987. Lewis is putting together a massive September, slashing .288/.393/.615 through 14 games with five homers, 13 runs and 21 RBI as the Twins close in on an AL Central title.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Belts 13th long ball
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in a 10-2 win against the White Sox on Thursday. Lewis gave the Twins a 2-0 lead with a fourth-inning solo shot and added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The rookie has just two hits in 15 at-bats over his past four games, but both have left the park, and he's racked up five RBI during that span. Lewis is slashing an impressive .300/.355/.530 with 13 homers, 46 RBI, 32 runs and five thefts over 217 plate appearances on the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Drives in six runs
Lewis went 3-for-4 with a home run, six RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over Cleveland. Lewis blew things open with a grand slam in the second inning followed by a two-run single in the sixth. He's gone deep seven times in the last 12 games with three of those being grand slams. During that stretch, he's gone 16-for-50 (.320) with a whopping 22 RBI. On the season, Lewis now owns a stellar .317/.363/.545 slash line with 16 extra-base hits through 44 games.... See More ... Twins' Royce Lewis: Possible waiver wire pickups
With Bo Bichette (quadriceps) and Matt McLain (oblique) recently going on the IL, you may be looking for a shortstop right now, and you're lucky that one as good as Lewis is available in one-third of CBS Sports leagues still. Seriously, what more does this guy have to do to win the hearts and minds of Fantasy Baseballers? He's a former No. 1 overall pick who has hit .305 with an .874 OPS so far in his major-league career (which mostly consists of this year, but still). He's on a home run binge now, having gone deep in five of his past eight games. His peak exit velocities are in the top 10 percent of the league. The walks are a little lacking for points leagues, but again, if a hole just opened up for you at shortstop, good luck doing better than him.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Slugs grand slam
Lewis went 1-for-6 with a grand slam in Sunday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rangers. Lewis put the Twins on the comeback trail with his sixth-inning slam to cut the deficit to 5-4. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three homers and seven RBI over his last six games. The infielder is at a .312/.358/.500 slash line with seven homers, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases over 37 contests this season. He's been a regular since returning from an oblique injury Aug. 15, primarily seeing time at third base and designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Homers in three-hit effort
Lewis went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in a 7-5 win against the Rangers on Thursday. Lewis hit one of five homers for Minnesota in the contest, slugging a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning. The long ball was his second in as many days and his sixth overall this season. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 15, Lewis is batting .333 (10-for-30) with the two home runs, five RBI, four runs and a stolen base over eight games.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Possible waiver wire pickups
Lewis is back, and judging by his rostership percentage, it seems like people forgot about him during his seven-week absence for an oblique injury. Or maybe they just thought there wouldn't be room for him with Jorge Polanco also healthy and Edouard Julien now firmly in the mix. But no, Lewis has started back-to-back games at third base and gone 4 for 7 with a double and a stolen base since returning -- this after batting .417 (5 for 12) with two homers and a steal on his rehab assignment. On Wednesday, he had three batted balls of more than 105 mph and also a 98-mph single. So far in his major-league career, albeit a brief one often interrupted by injuries, Lewis is batting .331 (47 for 142) with six homers and two steals in 40 games. Let's treat him like the former No. 1 overall pick he is.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Gets aboard twice in return
Lewis went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's victory over Detroit. Lewis served as Minnesota's third baseman and batted third in his return from an oblique injury that sidelined him for over six weeks. The 24-year-old got the Twins on the board in the sixth inning with an RBI single and later drew a walk. Lewis should continue to see regular playing time down the stretch between third base and designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Activated from injured list
Lewis (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis wound up missing more than six weeks of action with a Grade 2 left oblique strain, but he's ready to roll now after going 5-for-12 with a couple home runs in four rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul. While the 24-year-old might not have a set starting position, the fact that he can play all over the infield and the Twins also don't have a regular designated hitter bodes well for his chances of regular playing time. Lewis should be scooped back up in any leagues where he was dropped.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Starting rehab assignment Tuesday
Lewis (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis has been sidelined since July 1 with the left oblique strain. He will probably get evaluated after each game, and it could be a matter of days before he's cleared to return from the 10-day injured list. With Edouard Julien, Jorge Polanco and Carlos Correa playing regularly in the infield, it's possible Lewis will return to a utility role, but the fact that the Twins don't have an everyday designated hitter could allow him to still see plenty of action.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Has begun baseball activities
Lewis (oblique) began playing catch last weekend and took swings Friday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The Twins are aiming for a mid-August return for Lewis, who suffered a Grade 2 left oblique strain July 1. He'll likely need another week or so of workouts before being considered for a rehab assignment.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Has Grade 2 oblique strain
Lewis has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The moderate strain typically requires a recovery period of around six weeks, which means Lewis could potentially be sidelined into mid-August. It's yet another injury setback for Lewis, who didn't make his season debut for the Twins until late May as he recovered from a second ACL surgery. Jose Miranda is making a second straight start at third base for the Twins on Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Moves to IL
The Twins placed Lewis (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Lewis will be sidelined at least through the All-Star break after suffering a left oblique strain in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Orioles. The Twins recalled Jose Miranda from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move, and he's expected to step in for Lewis as Minnesota's primary third baseman in the short term.... See More ... Twins' Royce Lewis: IL stint coming
The Twins will place Lewis on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a left oblique strain during Saturday's game against Baltimore, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. After grabbing at his left side while running to first base, Lewis had to exit the game with a trainer in the third inning. No official move has been made yet, but Jose Miranda was scratched from Triple-A St. Paul's lineup Saturday, so it seems pretty close to a done deal at this point. Lewis was 8-for-20 with two RBI and two runs across his last five games entering Saturday, and he'll be eligible to return right after the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Suffers oblique strain
Lewis was pulled from Saturday's game against Baltimore due to a left oblique strain, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports. Lewis was grabbing at his left side while running to first base on a groundout in the third inning and had to be replaced at third base by Kyle Farmer. The severity of his injury is unclear, though an IL stint is certainly possible. The 24-year-old infielder is slashing .333/.361/.484 on the season through 97 plate appearances.... See More ...
