Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Back with Tigers on minors deal
Moreno signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Moreno has been with the Tigers organization since 2013 but has yet to reach the majors. The 26-year-old reached Triple-A for the first time last season, throwing just 2.2 innings at that level. In 46.1 frames for Double-A Erie, he posted a 4.47 ERA while striking out 33.3 percent of opposing batters.

Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Clear of visa concerns
Moreno arrived to the Tigers' spring training facility in Florida on Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
The 25-year-old was unable to report last week due to visa issues, but he's now ready to take the field for Detroit. Moreno has thrown only 23.2 innings since the start of 2018 and is likely to open 2021 in the minors.

Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Healthy again
Moreno (elbow) is listed among the Tigers' available relief options for Thursday's game against the Yankees and could make his third Grapefruit League appearance, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
While recovering from right elbow surgery, Moreno was sidelined for most of the 2019 season before making it back in action in August for seven rehab appearances with the Tigers' rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate. He reported to camp without any apparent restrictions, as he's already tossed a scoreless inning in both of his appearances. Expect Detroit to assign Moreno to Triple-A Toledo or Double-A Erie within the next few weeks.

Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Re-signs with Tigers
Moreno (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Monday.
Moreno has latched back on with Detroit after being released by the Tigers at the end of May. He's expected to undergo Tommy John surgery in the near future and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season and a good chunk of the 2019 campaign as a result.

Moreno will look to catch on elsewhere after appearing in 14 games this season for Double-A Erie and posting a 5.29 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 17 innings. More so than his poor numbers, the fact that Moreno is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in June prompted his release. His dismissal clears a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster.

Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Activated from minor-league DL
Moreno (elbow) was activated from the minor-league disabled list Monday, Emily Waldon of The Athletic Detroit reports.
Moreno is ready to make his 2018 debut after missing the first two weeks of the season with elbow inflammation. The 22-year-old, who has been touted as a potential future closer thanks to his impressive ability to miss bats, will report to Double-A Erie. Moreno posted a lackluster 6.43 ERA across 28 innings with the SeaWolves following a promotion last season, so he'll look to improve in his second stint with the Double-A squad.

Tigers' Gerson Moreno: Optioned to Double-A
Moreno was sent to Double-A Erie on Friday.
Moreno posted a 2.01 ERA in 22.1 innings at High-A Lakeland last season, but struggled to a 6.43 ERA upon promotion to Erie. His strikeout rates were impressive at both levels (31.9 percent at Lakeland and 28.4 percent at Erie) but his walk rate jumped up from 8.5 percent at Lakeland to 13.4 percent at Erie. He'll return to Erie to try to conquer Double-A this season and is probably at least a year away from pushing for a spot in the big-league bullpen.
