  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Dismissed from big-league camp

The Padres reassigned Brooks to minor-league camp Monday. Brooks made his MLB debut in his age-28 season in 2024, seeing action in 12 games with the Giants while posting a .361 OPS. The Giants outrighted him off the 40-man roster soon after his brief stint in the majors, and he finished the season at Triple-A Sacramento, where he slashed .302/.410/.453 across 407 plate appearances. After joining the Padres on a minor-league deal in November, Brooks will likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A El Paso for most of the 2025 campaign.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Giants outrighted Brooks to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Brooks passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization. The first baseman went 3-for-25 at the plate during his time with the Giants before he was moved off the 40-man roster.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Losing work to Flores

Brooks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Brooks looked as though he might hold down a strong-side platoon role at first base following his call-up from Triple-A Sacramento on May 28, but he appears to have since faded into a pure backup role behind Wilmer Flores. He'll be out of the lineup for the fifth straight game, with the Giants facing three lefty starters and two righties during that span.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Sitting versus southpaw

Brooks is not in the starting lineup against the Angels on Saturday. Brooks will remain on the bench for a third consecutive game as the Giants face another left-hander (Patrick Sandoval) on the mound. Wilmer Flores will draw another start at first base and bat third versus Los Angeles.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Not starting versus LHP

Brooks isn't in the Giants' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Brooks will take a seat Friday as lefty Tyler Anderson toes the slab for the Angels. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base while batting fifth.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Heading to bench versus lefty

Brooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The lefty-hitting Brooks will hit the bench for the second day in a row, this time against a lefty (Framber Valdez) after sitting versus right-hander Ronel Blanco in Tuesday's 3-1 loss. Brooks and Wilmer Flores will continue to form a rough platoon at first base while LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is on the shelf, though Flores will still see some select starts against right-handed pitching.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Not starting Tuesday

Brooks isn't in the Giants' lineup versus the Astros on Tuesday. Brooks started in the last two games at first and went 1-for-6. Prior to the two starts Sunday and Monday, he did not appear in four consecutive games. The first baseman has been seeing more regular playing time with LaMonte Wade (hamstring) on the injured list, but Wilmer Flores will get the start at first base Tuesday.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: On bench versus lefty

Brooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. The lefty-hitting Brooks is on the bench for the second game in a row while the Giants have faced southpaws Blake Walston and Jordan Montgomery in those contests. Wilmer Flores will get another start at first base Wednesday, but Brooks still looks to be in the strong side of a platoon at the position while LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is on the shelf.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Promoted from Triple-A

The Giants selected Brooks from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Brooks will make his MLB debut Tuesday for the Giants against the Phillies as the first baseman, batting ninth. In Triple-A Sacramento this season, he has slashed .308/.426/.462 with four home runs across 177 plate appearances in 43 games. The promotion coincides with LaMonte Wade being placed on the injured list and Ryan McKenna being designated for assignment.
