  • Twins' Alex De Goti: Traded to Minnesota

De Goti was traded to Minnesota from Miami on Thursday for cash considerations, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. He'll report to Triple-A St. Paul. With recent injuries to several infielders at the major-league level, the Twins are in need of infield depth in the high minors. De Goti will likely stay at Triple-A for the foreseeable future. He was hitting .278 with a home run and .611 OPS in four games for Triple-A Jacksonville before the trade.

The Marlins reassigned De Goti to minor-league camp Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. De Goti, who caught on with Miami on a minor-league deal in December, is expected to open the season at Triple-A Jacksonville. The 28-year-old infielder previously appeared in two games at the big-league level with the Astros in 2021 but spent the entire 2022 campaign with Houston's top affiliate in Sugar Land, slashing .253/.352/.377 with nine home runs, eight stolen bases, 69 RBI and 77 runs across 577 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Alex De Goti: Dispatched to MiLB camp

The Astros reassigned De Goti to minor-league camp Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. De Goti was one of six players sent out of big-league camp in the Astros' latest round of roster cuts. The 27-year-old infielder reached the big leagues for the first time in 2021, but he enjoyed only a short-term stay on 40-man and active rosters while Houston was down several players due to positive COVID-19 tests. He's expected to spend most, if not all, of the 2022 campaign at Triple-A Sugar Land.

  • Astros' Alex De Goti: Optioned to alternate site

De Goti was optioned to the alternate training site Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports. The 26-year-old spent the past week in the majors but will return to the alternate site with Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Martin Maldonado and Robel Garcia now clear of the league's health and safety protocols. De Goti received his first taste of MLB action and went 2-for-6 with a walk, an RBI and two runs in two appearances.

  • Astros' Alex De Goti: Makes impact in debut

De Goti started at second base and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners. De Goti made his MLB debut Friday, filling in for Jose Altuve (COVID-19 protocols). With Houston's lineup devastated by a slew of regulars on the protocols list, a lot of younger guys will be getting chances during an undefined window of time. De Goti has experience at both second and third base and could rotate in the lineup at those positions along with Aledmys Diaz and Abraham Toro.

  • Astros' Alex De Goti: Contract selected by Houston

De Goti's contract was selected by the Astros on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. De Goti was added to Houston's summer camp last year, and he'll now be available to make his major-league debut in the near future after five Astros were placed on the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday. De Goti should mainly serve in a depth role, but he could see some playing time with Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Robel Garcia all sidelined due to the league's health and safety protocols.

  • Astros' Alex De Goti: Lands in summer camp

De Goti was added to the Astros' 60-man player pool Sunday. De Goti, who is not on the 40-man roster, plays three infield positions -- all but first base -- and provides depth for what is an entrenched infield. Houston already has the multi-positional Aledmys Diaz along with Jack Mayfield and Abraham Toro, both of whom made their MLB debuts in 2019, as backups for Yuli Gurriel, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman. De Goti has spent part of the last three minor-league seasons at the Triple-A level, so in theory he should be able to fill a gap if need be. The 25-year-old slashed .277/.347/.443 with 15 home runs and 70 RBI for Triple-A Round Rock in 2019.
