Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Starting light activity
Seiya (oblique) is introducing light baseball activity Sunday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Networkz reports.
Suzuki was placed on the 10-day injured list April 15 due to a right oblique strain and is expected to miss about four weeks, as reported by Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune on April 16. Suzuki was off to a hot start this season, slashing .305/.368/.525 with three home runs and 13 RBI over 68 plate appearances.

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Out several weeks
Suzuki is expected to miss roughly four weeks due to a moderate strain in his right oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Manager Craig Counsell said the Cubs will have a better idea of Suzuki's return timeline once the outfielder is free of symptoms, but it appears he is in for a much longer IL stay than the 10-day minimum. Alexander Canario was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to replace Suzuki on the outfield depth chart, and Garrett Cooper has served as the Cubs' DH since Suzuki landed on the injured list Monday.

The Cubs placed Suzuki on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right oblique strain, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Suzuki was off to a strong start this season, slashing .305/.368/.525 with three home runs and 13 RBI. Jeff Passan of ESPN.com notes that Suzuki missed nearly six weeks after straining his left oblique in spring training last season, but the Cubs are hopeful that the 29-year-old won't remain on the shelf for that long this time around. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa.

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Hits third home run
Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 win against Seattle.
Suzuki was one of three Cubs with solo home runs in the win, joining Michael Busch and Miguel Amaya. The outfielder struck out in his other three at-bats, so the performance wasn't all good, but fantasy managers won't complain about three long balls through 14 games. Suzuki hit a career-high 20 home runs in 2023, and he could make a run at surpassing that figure this season if he keeps up his recent level of play.

Suzuki hit his second home run of the season in the fifth inning and this was his third multi-hit effort through six games. The outfielder is off to a strong start with a .972 OPS, and he should remain locked into a premium lineup spot for the Cubs moving forward, giving him plenty of opportunities to continue racking up stats.

Suzuki was part of a Chicago onslaught, getting things started with his first home run of the season in the first inning. The outfielder has a hit in four of his first five games and is now batting a solid .273, which is right around his career .275 mark.
