Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Sitting Thursday
Clarke is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.
Clarke will pick up some rest in the series finale after he had started in each of the previous seven games while going 4-for-22 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, four RBI and two runs. Lawrence Butler typically patrols right field but will slide over to center field Thursday with Clarke on the bench.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Picks up first steal
Clarke went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Rangers.
Clarke put the Athletics ahead 2-0 with an RBI single in the second inning. The outfielder has yet to record a multi-hit game this season, and he's struck out eight times over his last six games. He's batting .174 with a .420 OPS, no home runs, one double, six RBI, four runs scored and a steal over 17 contests. Despite the mediocre results at the plate, he's currently holding down a starting role in center field due to his strong defense.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Plates two runs Friday
Clarke went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a strikeout in Friday's win over the Mets.
Clarke snapped a three-game hitless skid with a single in the bottom of the ninth, and that allowed him to drive in runs for the first time in his last five games. Still, this has been a disappointing start to the season for the outfielder. Over 12 games and 33 plate appearances, Clarke is hitting just .161 with a .373 OPS.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Left out of lineup
Clarke is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Clarke will head to the bench for the third time in 11 games this season while the Athletics go with a starting outfield of Tyler Soderstrom, Lawrence Butler and Carlos Cortes from left to right. Though he brings elite defense in center field, Clarke has offered little fantasy production so far in 2026, slashing just .174/.240/.174 with two RBI, two runs and no stolen bases across 26 plate appearances.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Out of lineup Monday
Clarke is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Clarke started all three of the Athletics' games against the Blue Jays in the opening series but went 1-for-9 at the plate with six strikeouts. He'll take a seat Monday, and Lawrence Butler will slide over to center field, while Carlos Cortes bats ninth and plays right field.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Hitless in spring debut
Clarke (hip) started at designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a run scored in Saturday's Cactus League loss to the White Sox.
Clarke made his spring debut Saturday in an uneventful outing, serving as the designated hitter and going hitless. The superb defender was limited to 47 regular-season games as a rookie in 2025 due to a nagging right adductor strain that sidelined him from MLB action beyond July 20. In 159 big-league plate appearances, he slashed .230/.274/.372 with eight doubles, two triples, three home runs, eight RBI and six stolen bases. While the offensive production was modest, Clarke's elite defense should position him as the Athletics' regular center fielder in 2026, health permitting.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Beginning rehab assignment
Clarke (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Clarke hasn't played with the Athletics since July 20 due to a right adductor strain. It's unclear if he'll be able to make it back to the MLB lineup before Sunday's regular-season finale against the Royals. Las Vegas faces Tacoma in Game 1 of the PCL Championship on Tuesday, so Clarke will get some game action in the minors. The rookie center fielder has slashed .230/.274/.372 with three home runs, eight RBI, 18 runs scored, six stolen bases and a 6:61 BB:K across 159 big-league plate appearances this season.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Running session cut short
Clarke (hip) was pulled from his baserunning session Friday after experiencing a setback, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Clarke was only able to make it down to first base twice before the A's put an end to his scheduled activities. He's slated to undergo further evaluation to determine his new timeline for return, though a setback at this stage in the year could spell an early end to the 25-year-old's season.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Set to start running
Clarke (hip) is scheduled to run the bases Friday and could begin a rehab assignment next week, MLB.com reports.
Clarke has been sidelined since July 22 with a Grade 2 right adductor strain, and he reinjured the same adductor during a rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 15. The Athletics have taken a very cautious approach with him since, but he's set to begin running Friday, which could lead to another rehab assignment next week if all goes smoothly. That raises the possibility of the center fielder returning before the end of the season, though the organization will continue to monitor his progress carefully.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Not hitting or running yet
The Athletics announced Monday that Clarke (adductor) has yet to resume running or hitting, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Initially placed on the injured list July 22 due to a Grade 2 right adductor strain, Clarke made a rehab appearance for Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 15 but suffered a new Grade 2 strain of the same adductor in that game. While the Athletics have indicated that Clarke has made progress since then, he doesn't appear to be close to a return from the IL.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Nursing new adductor strain
Clarke has been shut down from baseball activities after he was diagnosed Tuesday with a Grade 2 right adductor strain, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Clarke recently suffered a setback while on a rehab assignment, and his new strain is in a slightly different spot than the one that initially sent him to the 10-day injured list in late July. The rookie outfielder is without a timeline for a return.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Suffers setback during rehab
Clarke (hip) had a setback Friday in the midst of a minor-league rehab assignment and is returning to the Athletics to be evaluated, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Clarke went 1-for-2 in his first rehab game Friday, but he was pulled before getting a third plate appearance. It was thought that the rookie outfielder was on the verge of being activated off the injured list, but it now seems he'll be out at least a bit longer. A clearer picture of Clarke's timeline moving forward could emerge after he is evaluated.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Rehab assignment coming Friday
Clarke (hip) is expected to start a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Las Vegas, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Clarke was sidelined July 22 with a Grade 2 right adductor strain but has progressed enough to begin a rehab assignment as he works toward a return to the majors. His overall numbers this season -- a .646 OPS across 47 games -- have been underwhelming, yet the rookie entered the injury break swinging the bat well. In 14 games during July, he posted a .298/.340/.574 slash line with a .914 OPS, six doubles, two triples, one homer, two steals and two RBI. While the 25-year-old is still working to establish himself offensively at the major-league level, Clarke's return is highly anticipated for the difference his elite defense makes in center field.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Closing in on return
Clarke (hip) is nearing a return from the 10-day injured list, Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America reports.
General manager David Forst didn't specify if Clarke, who landed on the 10-day injured list July 22 with a Grade 2 right adductor strain, would require a rehab assignment. However, Forst noted that Clarke "is close to going out and playing," per Kleinschmidt. A firm timetable for Clarke's return could come into focus over the next few days.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Back to baseball activities
Clarke (hip) began a hitting and running progression Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
Clarke landed on the injured list July 22 due to a Grade 2 adductor strain, and it's encouraging that he was shut down from baseball activities for only about a week. The 25-year-old has a lot of work to do in his rehab before being game ready, but a return in mid-August appears plausible.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Officially lands on 10-day IL
The Athletics placed Clarke on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a Grade 2 right adductor strain.
Clarke suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Guardians. There's no word yet on how long Clarke might be sidelined, but given the nature of the injury, it would be a surprise if it's a minimum absence. Lawrence Butler slid over to center field to cover for Clarke on Monday in Texas and could continue to play the position while the latter is sidelined.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Heading to IL with adductor strain
Clarke will be placed on the 10-day injured list after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right adductor strain, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
The Athletics will wait until prior to Tuesday's game against the Rangers before officially placing Clarke on the IL. It's likely that either JJ Bleday or Colby Thomas will take Clarke's spot on the roster. While there is no timetable for Clarke's return, it will likely be longer than a minimum stay on the IL, given the nature of the injury.

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Out of Monday's lineup
Clarke (hip) is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Rangers.
Clarke had to be pulled from Sunday's game against the Guardians due to right hip discomfort. He is considered day-to-day. Lawrence Butler will slide over to center field for the Athletics on Monday, while Miguel Andujar will receive a start in right field.
