  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Scores thrice Friday

Westburg went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored during Friday's 5-2 win over the Marlins. The 26-year-old infielder opened up the scoring Friday with an RBI single in the first inning and was later driven in by a Ryan O'Hearn double. Westburg smacked two more singles in the third and seventh innings, both of which also led to him coming across the plate. Since returning last Friday from a finger injury that kept him sidelined for five games, Westburg has now turned in three multi-hit performances and is 11-for-25 with three homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Exiting starting nine Sunday

Westburg is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. After missing five straight starts due to a left index finger sprain, Westburg returned to the lineup this weekend and went 4-for-8 with two home runs, three RBI and an additional run in two games. He doesn't appear to be dealing with a setback, so he's likely just getting a breather. Ramon Urias will cover third base in Westburg's stead.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Goes yard in three-hit effort

Westburg went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over Atlanta. The 26-year-old infielder got the O's on the board when he sent a 96 mph fastball from Spencer Strider the other way over the right-fiend wall in the third inning. Westburg is attempting to play through a sprained index finger on his left hand, an injury that had limited him to just two starts and five plate appearances over Baltimore's prior 10 games, but Friday's performance is a good sign that he'll be able to manage the issue. It's been a tough year overall for Westburg on the health front, and he's suited up for only 37 contests while slashing .243/.298/.464 with eight homers, a steal, 15 RBI and 21 runs.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Held out of lineup again

Westburg (finger) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. Westburg will miss out on a fifth straight start due to a left index finger sprain. The infielder has conceded that his finger is unlikely to heal without extended rest, but his intention is to get the digit feeling well enough to play through a bit of discomfort. He will try to return to the lineup Friday in Atlanta following the Orioles' scheduled off day Thursday. Ramon Urias will receive another start at the hot corner for the Orioles in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Finger injury expected to linger

Westburg said Monday that it's likely his injured left index finger won't be 100 percent for a while, but he is hoping it will be "good enough" to play within a day or two, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Westburg is absent from the lineup for a third straight game Monday after aggravating his finger injury in Friday's contest versus the Rays. He is considered day-to-day, and if he does return to the lineup soon, it sounds like he will have to play through some discomfort.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Not in Saturday's lineup

Westburg (hand) is not in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Rays on Saturday. Westburg aggravated his left index finger injury during Friday's win over the Rays. He's considered day-to-day and could be available off the bench as a pinch hitter. Ramon Urias will start at third base and bat second.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Aggravates finger injury

Westburg aggravated his left index finger injury during Friday's 22-8 win over the Rays and is considered day-to-day, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. Westburg had missed three games earlier in the week due to the injury, but he was able to return to the lineup. He aggravated the injury while sliding into second base on a double, but the good news is that X-rays came back negative. His status for Saturday's matinee is up in the air, and Ramon Urias -- who came in to pinch hit in the second inning -- would stand to see more time at the keystone if Westburg were to be sidelined.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Exits Friday's game

Westburg (finger) was removed in the second inning of Friday's game against the Rays due to left hand discomfort, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Westburg appeared to suffer the injury while sliding head-first into second base on a double. He initially stayed in to run the bases but was replaced by Ramon Urias in the second frame. Westburg will undergo further testing, and the Orioles should have an update during or shortly after Friday's game.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Making return to lineup

Westburg (finger) will start at third base and bat second in Wednesday's game versus the Rangers. Westburg missed each of the previous three contests due to a sprained left index finger, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. The 26-year-old has gone 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts over his last four games.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Expected to avoid injured list

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said that Westburg (finger) could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Westburg is still undergoing treatment and will miss a second straight start Monday due to a sprained left index finger, but the expectation is that he will avoid a stint on the 10-day injured list. Mansolino anticipates Westburg to be back in the lineup by Friday, at the latest.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Out of Sunday's lineup

Westburg (finger) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. The 26-year-old jammed his left index finger on a steal attempt during Saturday's game, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury after X-rays came back negative. Westburg will be held out of the starting nine for at least one contest, and he should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus Texas.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Suffers jammed finger

X-rays on Westburg's left hand came back negative after he was removed from Saturday's game against the Yankees, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Westburg jammed his left index finger while stealing second base in the first inning, leading to his eventual removal in the third. Although he doesn't have any structural damage, the 26-year-old is dealing with a bit of swelling, so the O's may hold him out for a day or two until his finger calms down.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Lifted in third inning

Westburg exited Saturday's game against the Yankees in the third inning due to left hand discomfort, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Westburg started Saturday's game at DH, drew a walk and stole second base in the first inning but was replaced by Coby Mayo for his next at-bat. For now, Westburg can be considered day-to-day, though he'll likely continue to be evaluated throughout the next 24 hours.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Homers in back-to-back games

Westburg went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Wednesday's 10-1 win over the Tigers. Westburg delivered the final blow in Baltimore's seven-run eighth inning, tucking a Beau Brieske fastball inside the left-field foul pole for his sixth homer of the year. Westburg has certainly hit the ground running since returning from a month-plus stint on the IL, homering in back-to-back games. Overall, the 26-year-old Westburg is slashing .232/.290/.465 with 14 runs scored and 10 RBI across 107 plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Goes yard in return

Westburg went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Tigers. Activated off the injured list earlier in the day, Westburg took Detroit closer Will Vest deep in the ninth inning as Baltimore tried to mount a comeback. Westburg had been sidelined since April 26 due to a hamstring strain, but he'd been heating up at the plate prior to getting hurt -- over his last eight games, including Tuesday's performance, he's batting .313 (10-for-32) with two of his five homers on the year.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Reinstated from injured list

The Orioles activated Westburg from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Westburg is finally ready to rejoin the Orioles' lineup after being sidelined since late April with a left hamstring strain. He looked sharp in eight rehab games with Triple-A Norfolk, going 11-for-28 with a pair of home runs. Westburg will regain his status as the Orioles' everyday third baseman.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Appears set to return Tuesday

According to Orioles interim manager Tony Masolino, Westburg (hamstring) is trending toward a return Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Westburg landed on the injured list April 28 and began a minor-league rehab assignment May 26. He's been on fire with Triple-A Norfolk, slashing .360/.429/.760 with two homers and five RBI over seven games. Ramon Urias has been Baltimore's primary third baseman while Westburg has been sidelined.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Hits snag in recovery

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Wednesday that Westburg suffered a setback in his recovery from a left hamstring strain and has paused his running progression, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Westburg appeared on pace to begin a rehab assignment at some point later this week, but his return from the 10-day injured list will be pushed back further in light of the setback. Hyde didn't commit to a timeline for Westburg to resume running, so until that happens, a more definitive target date for the All-Star infielder's return will be difficult to pin down. The Orioles brought back Ramon Urias (hamstring) from the IL on Wednesday, and he's expected to serve as the team's regular third baseman while Westburg is on the mend.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Needs rehab assignment

Westburg (hamstring) is with Triple-A Norfolk and will work out for a couple days before getting into rehab games later this week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. There was a report last week that Westburg may not need a rehab assignment, but we can now rule out a return when first eligible Wednesday. If he needs only a couple rehab games, he could still be activated by the end of the weekend, but those in weekly leagues should try to get him out of lineups.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: May not need rehab assignment

Westburg (hamstring) may not require a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the 10-day injured list, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. General manager Mike Elias said Friday that Westburg's return timetable from a strained left hamstring is being measured in "days" and not "weeks," which appears to give the infielder a chance to be reinstated as early as Wednesday, when he's first eligible. Although Westburg is batting just .217 with four home runs and six RBI over 92 at-bats this season, he had gone 9-for-29 (.310) with one homer, two doubles and two RBI across his last seven games before going down. With Ramon Urias now dealing with hamstring tightness, the Orioles are left to lean on Emmanuel Rivera to handle the bulk of the action at third base in the interim.
