  • Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Sent down to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Garabito to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. After posting a 2.05 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings in Triple-A, Garabito was called up by the Rangers on May 26. Since the promotion, the 28-year-old right-hander has appeared in three games for the big club, allowing one run on four hits and five walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings. The move corresponds with the Rangers activating right-hander Jon Gray from the injured list.

  • Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Works in relief Saturday

Garabito struck out one and allowed two hits and one walk over a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Marlins. After giving up one run in a 3.2-inning start in his MLB debut May 26 versus the Twins, Garabito went nearly a week without any usage before he finished off Saturday's blowout win. Despite making his most recent appearance in relief, Garabito could be an option to make another start either Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Tigers, with Dane Dunning presumably taking the hill for one of those games and Garabito or Jose Urena getting the nod for the other contest. Texas could get Jon Gray (groin) back from the injured list as soon as this weekend, so Garabito likely won't be in line for any additional starts in the near future if he does in fact re-enter the rotation against Detroit.

  • Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Decent in major-league debut

Garabito allowed a run on two hits and four walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday. Garabito threw 49 of 84 pitches for strikes in the contest, which was his major-league debut. The right-hander walked a batter in each inning, but he was able to limit the damage until he gave up a pair of hits to begin the fourth. It's unclear how long Garabito will be in the majors. He may not be needed to stick around if Michael Lorenzen (knee) and Jose Urena (lower leg) are able to make their next scheduled starts, as the Rangers have three off days between this Monday and June 6. Nathan Eovaldi (groin) began mound work May 17 and could also be nearing a return if he doesn't require a rehab assignment.
