Serving as the opener in front of primary pitcher Charlie Barnes, Burrows put the Twins in a 2-0 hole before manager Rocco Baldelli turned the game over to the bullpen. Burrows was lit up for four runs in the first inning and didn't fare much better in the second, letting the first two batters of the frame reach base before serving up a three-run blast to Eloy Jimenez. All told, Burrows needed 64 pitches just to record six outs.
