Astros' Alex Bregman: Slated for game action Friday
Bregman (finger) will make his Grapefruit League debut Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Bregman fractured his left index finger during Game 6 of the World Series and has been easing into things this spring. Astros' Alex Bregman: Finger healing well
Bregman's broken left index finger has healed well, and he's been able to swing since the start of January, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. Bregman broke his finger in the penultimate inning of last season, suffering the injury on a slide into second base in the eighth frame of Game 6 of the World Series. The injury could hardly have been better timed, as he was able to remain in the game and then had the maximum possible time to heal. Astros' Alex Bregman: Suffers broken finger
Bregman sustained a broken left index finger during Game 6 of the World Series against the Phillies on Saturday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Bregman suffered his injury while sliding into second base in the eighth inning Saturday, but he was able to remain in the game as the Astros secured a 4-1 victory to win the World Series for the second time in the last six years. Bregman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Saturday's 5-2 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series. Bregman extended the Houston lead to 5-0 with a 405-foot blast off Zack Wheeler in the fifth inning, his third homer of the postseason and second extra-base hit of the World Series. The 28-year-old third baseman extended his postseason hitting streak to five games, and he is now hitting .316 with nine RBI. Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday night during Game 2 of the ALCS in the 3-2 win over the Yankees. Bregman knocked in all three of the Houston runs for Game 2 with a 360-foot blast off Luis Severino in the third inning. After a hitless performance in Game 1, the 28-year-old third baseman bounced back with his second multi-hit showing and second homer of the postseason. After walking in his first two plate appearances, Bregman skied a two-run homer to left in the fifth inning off Cole Ragans, ending the rookie's outing.
