Athletics' Jose Leclerc: Seeking second opinion
Leclerc (right lat strain) will receive a second opinion with a doctor in Texas during the week of April 28, MLB.com reports.
The right-hander left an April 22 appearance with what was originally labeled shoulder soreness but later diagnosed as a lat strain. However, the need for a second opinion would suggest his injury may be to his shoulder or more severe than first thought.

Athletics' Jose Leclerc: Out with lat strain
Leclerc was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a right lat strain.
The right-hander departed Tuesday's contest with what was originally labeled shoulder soreness, but he's since been diagnosed with a lat strain. Leclerc will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks, but a lengthier absence wouldn't be surprising given the nature of the injury. Justin Sterner and Tyler Ferguson should serve as the Athletics' high-leverage relievers ahead of closer Mason Miller.

Athletics' Jose Leclerc: Dealing with sore shoulder
Leclerc was taken out of Tuesday's game against Texas due to right shoulder soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Leclerc was taken out of the game after throwing just seven pitches in the seventh inning, though he managed to record a strikeout in that time. His availability going forward is pending another update from the Athletics' training staff, but he can be considered day-to-day for now.

Athletics' Jose Leclerc: Blows late lead in A's debut
Leclerc (0-1) blew the save and took the loss in Thursday's 4-2 loss against Seattle. He allowed three runs on two home runs and a walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning.
Leclerc was protecting a one-run lead in the eighth inning but needed 28 pitches to record just one out. Despite the setback, he may be the A's best setup man until Michel Otanez (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Athletics' Jose Leclerc: Inks one-year deal with Athletics
The Athletics signed Leclerc to a one-year, $10 million contract Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Although he finished with a 4.32 ERA, Leclerc also posted a 30.9 percent strikeout rate in 2024, his highest mark since 2019. The 31-year-old has never had a single-season walk rate in the single digits, so the A's are likely just hoping he can miss enough bats to overcome the inevitable lapses of control. Leclerc will be a setup man ahead of star closer Mason Miller.

Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Takes loss Monday
Leclerc (3-3) was charged with Monday's loss against the Guardians, allowing three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning.
Starter Michael Lorenzen pitched well enough to win -- he fired seven shutout innings -- but he got little support from the offense or the bullpen, which ceded seven runs over the final two innings. It started with Leclerc, who has allowed runs in three consecutive appearances (five runs, four hits, three walks, three innings). The team's closer to start the season, Leclerc had shifted back to lower-leverage outings and worked his way back with a stretch of nine scoreless innings prior to this recent three-game downturn. His ERA now stands at 6.88 with a 1.71 WHIP and 15 walks over 17 innings.

Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Wins in scoreless outing
Leclerc (2-2) earned the win Friday, striking out two over a scoreless eighth inning against Cincinnati.
Leclerc, who earlier this season lost the closer's job, has reclaimed the confidence of manager Bruce Bochy. Friday's outing was his fifth consecutive scoreless appearance, with the last three coming in the eighth inning of games.
