Player Outlook
Eloy Jimenez missed three weeks in May due to an appendectomy but otherwise stayed mostly healthy in 2023, and his 120 games played is the most since his rookie campaign. Sitting out 42 games is still significant but marks a major improvement from the previous two years, when he appeared in a combined 139 contests. He still missed some time here and there with calf and groin issues, and his .272/.317/.441 slash line was a notable drop from his .295/.358/.500 line in 2022. Jimenez totaled 18 homers, 64 RBI and 50 runs last season, while his .169 ISO was the worst mark of his MLB career. Potential versus durability continues to be the theme for Jimenez, with durability concerns unfortunately winning out to this point. That seems unlikely to change in 2024, though he would be an incredible value for fantasy managers on the off chance he's finally able to play a full season.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Could play right field

Jimenez is entering the 2024 season healthy and could occasionally play in right field, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Jimenez played 120 games in 2023, his highest mark since the 2019 season. However, he posted a career-worst .169 ISO while swatting only 18 home runs. Jimenez is set to hit free agency at the close of the season, so adding some defensive value back into his profile could help his cause on the open market.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: On bench for finale

Jimenez is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres. Jimenez will be UTIL-only heading into 2024 in leagues that require 15-plus games to qualify at a position, as he only played 14 games in the outfield this year and 105 at designated hitter. He slashed .272/.317/.441 with 18 home runs, 50 runs and 64 RBI.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Blasts three-run homer

Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 15-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. Jimenez tagged starter Zach Davies for a three-run shot in the first inning, then drove in Chicago's only other run in the second frame, plating Andrew Benintendi on a single. The outfielder has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 appearances, a stretch in which he's batting .308 with three homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Homers in nightcap

Jimenez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 11-10 loss against Kansas City. Jimenez got the White Sox on the board in the fifth inning with a solo blast off Jordan Lyles, cutting the deficit to 9-1 and jumpstarting an improbable comeback in an eventual one-run Chicago loss. The homer snapped a 14-game power outage for Jimenez, with his last long ball coming back on Aug. 25. He's now batting .273 on the year with a .763 OPS, 16 homers, 58 RBI and 45 runs scored across 425 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Receives Wednesday off

Jimenez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game at Kansas City. Jimenez started the past 15 games and will hit the bench after he posted a .675 OPS during that stretch. Andrew Vaughn will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Gavin Sheets starts at first base.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Slugs solo homer

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the A's. Jimenez has started five consecutive games -- all at cleanup -- since returning from a groin injury. He has had an unremarkable stretch since rejoining the lineup, though he did manage his 15th homer of the season and only third since the All-Star break. Jimenez will be a fixture in the lineup assuming health, but he's only been able to suit up for 89 of the team's 129 contests on the campaign.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Jumps back into lineup

Jimenez (groin) will serve as the White Sox's designated hitter and cleanup batter in Monday's game against the Marinres. Before landing on the paternity list Friday, Jimenez missed the White Sox's preceding game last Wednesday due to a groin injury. He returned from paternity leave Monday and apparently healed up from the groin issue while he was away from the team, so he'll be ready to reclaim his usual spot in the heart of the Chicago lineup.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Back from paternity list

The White Sox reinstated Jimenez from the paternity list Monday. Jimenez is back with the team after he spent the weekend away from the White Sox while observing the birth of his child, but since the team has yet to release its lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners, it's unclear if he'll be available to play in the series opener. Prior to going on paternity leave, Jimenez sat out last Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs with groin soreness, and he may not be fully recovered from the injury. Whenever he's deemed fully healthy, Jimenez should reclaim duties as the White Sox's everyday designated hitter.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Goes on paternity leave

Jimenez (groin) was placed on the paternity leave list Friday. Jimenez missed Wednesday's series finale against the Cubs due to groin discomfort and will now be away from the White Sox for the entirety of their three-game weekend series in Colorado as he welcomes a new addition to his growing family. Lenyn Sosa is up from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Homers in loss

Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Brewers. Jimenez' third-inning blast off Corbin Burnes was his 13th of the season and first since July 23. His two RBI represent twice as many as he had accumulated to that point in August. Jimenez has played in 81 of the White Sox' 123 games and is on pace to play over 100 games for just the second time in his career. He currently has a .283 batting average with 50 RBI and 34 runs scored to go along with his 13 home runs.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Out due to sore heel

Jimenez is out of the lineup Friday at Cleveland due to a sore heel, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. This may be something of a lingering issue for Jimenez, who was limited to pinch-hitting duties in Thursday's series finale against the Rangers. Oscar Colas is serving as Chicago's designated hitter Friday against the Guardians and Andrew Benintendi, Luis Robert and Trayce Thompson will start across the outfield.

Jimenez is not in the lineup Thursday at Texas. Gavin Sheets will fill the DH role for the White Sox and bat seventh versus the Rangers and Max Scherzer. Jimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Drives in four in loss

Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI in Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Cubs. Despite the overall result, it was a strong individual effort from Jimenez. He hit a two-run single in the first inning and a two-run double in the fourth for his fifth multi-hit effort in the last six games. It was the first time he's logged multiple RBI in a game since July 6. The outfielder is at a strong .286/.330/.485 slash line with 13 home runs, 46 RBI, 33 runs scored and 14 doubles through 68 contests overall.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Goes yard Sunday

Jimenez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Twins. Jimenez took Bailey Ober deep to center in the second inning to get the White Sox on the board. It was his third home run in July and the third time over the last four games he's notched multiple hits. Despite missing some time due to injury, the 26-year-old is enjoying a productive month, slashing .333/.368/.519 with eight RBI, eight runs and a 3:7 BB:K in 15 games.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Available to pinch hit

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Jimenez (groin) is available to pinch hit Wednesday versus the Mets, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Grifol said the same thing prior to Tuesday's game, but it sounds like that was a bit of gamesmanship on the skipper's part and Jimenez wasn't truly available. "Today he is available," Grifol said Wednesday. "Yesterday it was questionable whether he was available or not. I would have used him if he was available. He is available today. To pinch hit." It seems as if Jimenez could be ready to return to the lineup as soon as Thursday.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Sits Wednesday due to groin injury

Jimenez (groin) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. The White Sox made Jimenez available to pinch hit in Tuesday's series opener after he left the team's previous game Sunday against Atlanta due to left groin tightness, but he ultimately went unused in the 11-10 loss to the Mets. Jimenez will remain on the bench again Wednesday, and manager Pedro Grifol previously estimated that the slugger would miss around 4-to-5 days in total. With that in mind, Jimenez may not be a good bet to make it back in the lineup until this weekend's series in Minnesota.
