Pirates' Rob Zastryzny: Activated from IL
Zastryzny (elbow) was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Zastryzny has been out since the middle of April while nursing ulnar neuritis in his left elbow, but he'll be back with the big-league club Friday. The left-hander tossed a scoreless inning with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out a batter. Over seven appearances with the Pirates in 2023, Zastryzny has struggled to a 7.94 ERA and 1.94 WHIP with six punchouts over 5.2 innings. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, Miguel Andujar was designated for assignment.

Pirates' Rob Zastryzny: Set for rehab assignment
Zastryzny (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Indianapolis, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Zastryzny made it through a string of bullpen sessions without issue and has been cleared again for live competition. Out since mid-April due to a diagnosis of elbow neuritis, the 31-year-old left-hander could return to the Pirates' bullpen in the early part of next week if all goes well on the farm.

Zastryzny (elbow) threw a live bullpen Tuesday, and he'll throw another later this week ahead of a potential rehab assignment next week, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Zastryzny has been on the injured list with left ulnar neuritis since the middle of April, and it appears the southpaw has made quicker progress than anticipated. He'll likely need a week or so of rehab appearances. If all goes well, Zastryzny has a chance to pitch in the middle of the Pittsburgh bullpen right around the start of June.

Zastryzny (elbow) will be shut down for 7-10 weeks after being diagnosed with left ulnar neuritis, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
That would figure to rule him out until at least July. Zastryzny likely will be moved to the 60-day injured list eventually.

The Mets optioned Zastryzny to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Zastryzny's contract was selected from Triple-A ahead of the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Phillies. He appeared out of the bullpen in the 4-1 loss in the nightcap, allowing an earned run over one inning in his Mets debut. Though he'll retain a spot on the 40-man roster for now, Zastryzny was sent back to the minors to clear a spot in the bullpen for Nate Fisher, whose contract was selected from Triple-A ahead of Sunday's series finale in Philadelphia.
