  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Masterful in sixth win

DeGrom (6-2) earned the win Saturday, allowing two hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings against Washington. He struck out eight. DeGrom was virtually unhittable against Washington on Saturday. The right-hander's fastball might be down a few ticks from his peak velocity (it's averaging 97.1 mph in 2025), but he's been as dominant as ever, posting a 1.66 ERA and 0.85 WHIP across 43.1 innings in his past seven starts. With a 2.12 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 76.1 innings in 13 outings overall in 2025, the 36-year-old is reasserting himself as one of the game's premier pitchers.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Rebounds for fifth win

DeGrom (5-2) earned the win Sunday over the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four. DeGrom issued a leadoff walk in the first inning to Lars Nootbaar, who eventually came around to score on Willson Contreras' two-out single. However, deGrom limited the damage from there, holding the Cardinals scoreless over his final five frames to earn his fifth win and quality start. The 36-year-old deGrom hasn't had his swing-and-miss stuff recently, though he's found success regardless -- he held St. Louis to just two hard-hit balls Sunday. Overall, deGrom sports a 2.34 ERA with a 0.98 WHIP and 66:17 K:BB across 12 starts (69.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Nationals on the road in his next outing.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Struggles to put hitters away

DeGrom (4-2) took the loss Monday against the Blue Jays after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He failed to record a strikeout. It was notably the first time in deGrom's illustrious career that he was unable to register a single punchout, as he whiffed just three Monday. Even so, it was the star right-hander's eighth consecutive start throwing at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer, and he boasts a 1.85 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 49:8 K:BB covering his last 48.2 frames. Manager Bruce Bochy noted after the game that deGrom was pulled after 81 pitches as a precaution after racking up high pitch counts in his last two starts, per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com. Next up for deGrom is a tough matchup at home versus the Cardinals, which is set to come this weekend.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Lowers arm angle

DeGrom's average arm angle in 2025 is at 30 degrees, the lowest its been in five years since Statcast began tracking arm angles, David Adler of MLB.com reports. The lower arm angle appears to be working for deGrom, who is delivering results similar to what he did during his Cy Young seasons of 2018 and 2019. "When [my arm angle] climbs," deGrom said this week, "I noticed I got a little bit more sore. So I was just trying to do what's best for health. And now I feel like with the slot that I'm at right now, I've been able to recover really well in between." Over his last three starts, the right-hander struck out 10 over five innings against the Tigers, shut out the Astros through eight frames and then held the Yankees in check over seven innings.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Fans nine in seven strong innings

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Yankees after allowing two runs on three hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out nine. DeGrom got 20 whiffs while continuing to put a shaky beginning to the season in the rear-view mirror, as he's now fanned at least seven in five of his last seven starts. The star right-hander has tossed at least five innings while giving up two runs or fewer in each of those seven outings, dominating to the tune of a 1.66 ERA and 49:6 K:BB. DeGrom will try to keep the good times rolling next week versus a hot Blue Jays offense that has a .782 OPS over their last 19 games.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Wins pitching duel

DeGrom (4-1) allowed five hits and one walk while striking out seven over eight shutout innings to earn the win over the Astros on Thursday. DeGrom turned in a vintage performance while battling Hunter Brown in a pitching duel. A Jake Burger home run was all the support deGrom needed to secure his fourth straight win. He's allowed two runs or less in six straight starts while racking up a fantastic 40:5 K:BB across 36.1 innings in that span. For the season, deGrom is sporting a 2.29 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB across 51 innings through nine starts. He's projected for a tough road outing versus the Yankees next week.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 10 in win

deGrom (3-1) earned the win against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts over five innings. deGrom surrendered a pair of solo homers but was otherwise dominant, racking up 21 whiffs on 90 pitches. The 36-year-old has won three straight contests while yielding two earned runs or fewer in each of his past five starts. He'll carry a 2.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 46:10 K:BB across 43 innings into a home matchup with the Astros next week.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Earns easy win

DeGrom (2-1) allowed a run on three hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out three and picking up a win against Seattle. The lone run against deGrom came in the third frame on an RBI groundout from Jorge Polanco, but the Rangers immediately answered back with a six-run inning. It was deGrom's second straight win after beginning the year 0-1 through five starts. He tossed 59 of 89 pitches for strikes Sunday and generated 11 whiffs, including six with his fastball. His ERA dropped to 2.61 with a 36:9 K:BB through 38 innings. However, DeGrom has failed to complete six innings in five of his seven outings this season. He's lined up to start in Detroit next weekend.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Dominates in six shutout innings

DeGrom (1-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Athletics after allowing four hits and no walks in six scoreless innings. He struck out seven. The two-time Cy Young Award winner found himself in vintage form Tuesday, producing 16 whiffs while delivering his first scoreless outing since his first start of the season. While he did toss a season-low 65 pitches, the oft-injured deGrom's reduced workload was likely a byproduct of the Rangers taking a commanding 12-0 lead in the sixth inning. After a shaky first three starts of the year, during which he conceded four homers, the right-hander has a sparkling 1.47 ERA and 20:1 K:BB over his last three appearances (18.1 innings). DeGrom's next start is set to come this weekend at home against the hard-hitting Mariners, who entered Tuesday ranked third in MLB in home runs (42).

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Fans six in no-decision

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Athletics after allowing two runs on six hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out six. DeGrom was able to keep the ball in the yard at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park, and this was his second start of the year in which he didn't lend a free pass. The star right-hander also induced 12 whiffs Thursday. The Rangers are being careful with the oft-injured deGrom's workload, as he's reached the 90-pitch threshold in just one his first five outings. DeGrom holds a strong 3.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB across 27 innings ahead of his next scheduled appearance, currently set to come at home against these same Athletics.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Gets no help in loss

DeGrom (0-1) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings, taking the loss versus the Dodgers on Friday. This is the definition of a hard-luck loss -- deGrom gave up a solo home run to Tommy Edman on the second pitch of the game, and that was the difference. DeGrom threw 61 of 96 pitches for strikes in this strong start, so his workload limitations look to be just about gone after his fourth outing. This was deGrom's first quality start of the season, and it was a strong bounce-back effort after he allowed three runs, including two home runs, on three hits and four walks over four innings against the Mariners last Friday. For the season, the right-hander has a 3.32 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB across 21.2 innings, though he's also given up five homers.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Shaky again in no-decision

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks in four innings. He struck out four. The star right-hander wasn't at his best Friday, giving up two solo home runs and failing to throw a clean inning. Through three starts (14.2 innings), deGrom has a 4.30 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB. The Rangers are being cautious with the oft-injured deGrom's workload to begin the season, and he'll be looking to reach the 90-pitch threshold for the first time this year in a home matchup against the Angels in the middle of next week.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Serves up two homers

DeGrom allowed four earned runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out three across 5.2 innings Saturday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision. DeGrom was staked to a four-run lead and held the Rays in check through five innings. However, he gave up a two-run home run in the sixth inning and was pulled in the same frame after allowing a two-out double with the runner ultimately coming around to score. While the line was a bit inflated, deGrom uncharacteristically struggled to get strikeouts and was forced to work around plenty of baserunners.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Tosses five shutout innings

DeGrom allowed two hits and two walks over five scoreless frames in a no-decision against Boston on Sunday. He struck out six batters in the Rangers' win. DeGrom looked sharp in his season debut; he generated 16 whiffs, including 10 with his slider, and coughed up just one extra-base hit. His fastball averaged 96.7 mph and touched 98.1 mph. DeGrom went into the start with a limit of around 75 pitches or five innings, which he nearly matched with his 73 pitches (49 strikes) across five frames. The veteran righty should progressively see his workload expand, starting with his next projected outing this weekend at home against the Rays.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: On pitch limit in debut

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that he expects deGrom to be limited to around 75 pitches or five innings in Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. In an effort to help deGrom stay healthy after he was limited to just nine starts over the last two seasons while recovering from his second Tommy John surgery, the Rangers brought him along slowly during spring training. He made just three spring appearances and built up to four innings and 70 pitches in his final outing, so deGrom will see only a slight increase in his projected workload in his season debut. While the potential five-inning limit caps deGrom's upside as a DFS option for Sunday, fantasy managers in redraft leagues will likely still want to keep the right-hander in their lineups.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Makes second spring start

DeGrom allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings in Wednesday's Cactus League start against the Mariners. DeGrom made his second Cactus League start but has also built up in minor-league games during the spring. He told Kenndi Landry of MLB.com that he feels good health-wise but was not pleased about his mechanics. Specifically, his shoulder was flying open, and deGrom couldn't keep the ball down with his slider and caught too much of the middle of the plate overall. The Rangers' ace worked his pitch count to 57, which is less than optimal at this stage of the Cactus League, but deGrom is expected to pitch when his turn comes up in the opening week of the regular season.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Throws three innings in minors game

DeGrom (illness) threw three innings in a minor-league game Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. DeGrom had to be scratched from a scheduled appearance Thursday due to a stomach virus, but it wound up setting him back only one day and shouldn't affect his readiness for the start of the season. The Rangers plan to start deGrom at the back end of their rotation once the regular season begins as part of a plan to monitor his workload.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Battling stomach virus

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that DeGrom won't pitch Thursday as initially planned while the right-hander recovers from a stomach virus, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. DeGrom had been penciled in to start Thursday's Cactus League game against the Giants or in a minor-league contest on the back fields of camp, but he won't be available in any capacity after he apparently fell ill overnight. Assuming he's able to quickly bounce back from the ailment over the next couple of days, deGrom should still be on track to open the season in the Texas rotation, but he can't afford to miss many more throwing sessions at this stage of camp. The Rangers had already been easing deGrom in during spring training, and he built up to 31 pitches in his first Cactus League start Saturday. DeGrom will likely need to push his pitch count into the 60-to-70 range by the end of the spring to head into his first start of the regular season without any major workload restrictions.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Fires two perfect innings

DeGrom threw two scoreless innings against the Royals in Saturday's Cactus League game, striking out three batters. Making his first appearance of the spring, deGrom threw 31 pitches and didn't allow a baserunner. He struck out both Kyle Isbel and Bobby Witt to open the contest and finished his day off with a strikeout of Tyler Gentry. DeGrom's fastball touched 98 mph, and his slider and curveball looked sharp. The Rangers are going to slowly ramp things up with deGrom, and he's scheduled to again take the mound Thursday against the Giants. He's likely looking at 40-45 pitches in his next start, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Starting at back end of rotation

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that deGrom will begin the season at "the back end" of the rotation, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. He's expected to make his first regular season start either March 30 versus the Cubs or March 31 against the Reds. DeGrom is considered healthy, but the Rangers are simply allowing the two-time Cy Young Award winner ample time to build up after he missed most of the last two seasons while recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. The 36-year-old will make his Cactus League debut Friday against the Rockies and will be built up to five innings by his final spring outing.
