  • Blue Jays' D.J. Davis: Let go by Toronto

The Blue Jays released Davis earlier in June, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

The 17th overall pick of the 2012 first-year player draft, Davis never made it to the Double-A level, as he had stalled out at High-A Dunedin over parts of the past three seasons. His pedigree should be enough to earn him a look from another organization, but as a 23-year-old with a career .242/.315/.348 line in the minors, Davis' career could be on life support.

  • Blue Jays' D.J. Davis: Headed to minor-league camp

Davis was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Davis didn't appear in any games for Toronto this spring. Davis hit .258/.331/.325 over 112 games at High-A Dunedin last season. He'll likely open the upcoming campaign with Dunedin or Double-A New Hampshire.

  • Blue Jays' D.J. Davis: Hoping Arizona pushes him over hump

Davis will play in this year's Arizona Fall League, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Davis has fallen way short of the expectations set by the Jays when it made the outfielder a first-round selection in 2012. In six professional seasons, he's slashed .242/.316/.348 while never making it past High-A Dunedin. With patience for Davis' development eroding, the fall league could prove to be a game-changer for the 23-year-old.
