Braves' Orlando Arcia: Not starting Friday
Arcia isn't in Atlanta's lineup Friday against Washington, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Atlanta was able to lock up home-field advantage throughout the postseason Thursday, so the team will give Arcia a day off Friday to keep him fresh for the NLDS. Nicky Lopez will start at shortstop and bat eighth while Arcia sits.

Arcia went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Pirates.
He took Ryan Borucki deep for a solo shot in the sixth inning before lacing what proved to be a game-winning, two-run double off Pittsburgh closer David Bednar in the top of the ninth. Arcia has hit safely in seven straight games to begin August, and since the All-Star break he's slashing .329/.398/.603 over 22 contests with five of his 12 homers on the season. The veteran shortstop's career high is 15 home runs, a mark he reached in 2017 and 2019, and Arcia could be poised to blow past that figure in 2023.

Arcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.
The bottom of the order did most of the damage for Atlanta, as No. 8 hitter Arcia lofted a Jacob Webb fastball over the fence in left-center field in the seventh inning, sandwiched between two solo shots by No. 9 hitter Michael Harris in the fifth and seventh. Arcia has caught fire again since the All-Star break, slashing .302/.362/.566 over the last 16 games with four of his 11 homers on the season.
