  • Adonis Garcia: Heading overseas

Garcia agreed to a deal with the LG Twins of the KBO League in South Korea, Marcos Grunfeld of Sportsvenezuela.com reports.

Garcia will look for success overseas after spending the last three years playing at the major-league level with the Braves. Following a solid 2016 campaign, the third baseman missed a bunch of time this past year due to a finger injury that required surgery, and also an Achilles tendon ailment that kept him out for a couple weeks. All in all, the 32-year-old slashed .237/.273/.347 with five home runs and 19 RBI, and it was apparent that Garcia had lost whatever sort of role he obtained by the end of the season.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Officially reinstated from DL

Garcia (finger) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Monday.

Before signing off on Garcia's return to the active roster, the Braves had him play three rehab games in the minors, during which he went 1-for-10. Garcia opened the season in an everyday role for the Braves at third base, but since the 31-year-old isn't expected to factor into the club's long-term plans, he may end up being third in the pecking order at the hot corner behind Johan Camargo (knee), who could also be activated from the DL on Monday, and Rio Ruiz.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Returns from DL

Garcia (finger) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against the Rangers, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Along with Garcia, fellow infielders Johan Camargo (knee) and Danny Santana (quadriceps) will come off the DL for the series opener, with Camargo's return in particular serving as the biggest hindrance toward Garcia gaining fantasy value in September. It's expected that Camargo, who was enjoying a productive rookie season prior to being shut down for the last month with the injury, will take over as the everyday third baseman, rounding out an infield that includes three other foundational pieces in Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson. With that in mind, Garcia, a 31-year-old with no long-term place in the Braves' plans, may only pick up a couple starts per week as the season winds down.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Could return next week

Garcia (finger) is expected to join the Braves in a week after completing a brief minor-league rehab assignment, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports,

The plan is for Garcia to take a few days of batting practice in Florida before heading out on his rehab assignment, which is expected to last until the end of the minor-league season. Barring any setbacks during his brief rehab stint, Garcia will be activated shortly thereafter. With Brandon Phillips settled in at the hot corner, Garcia's role once he returns remains up in the air.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Rehab assignment in sight

Garcia (finger) is expected to go on a rehab assignment next week, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The tentative plan is that Garcia will go on a rehab assignment next week and aim to come off the disabled list early September. However, with Brandon Phillips currently spending time at third base, Garcia could have a hard time finding consistent playing time upon his eventual activation.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Remains weeks away from return

Garcia (finger) is still a couple of weeks away from returning from the disabled list, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Garcia went under the knife to help heal his injured left ring finger back in June, and it appears that he's roughly on pace with his original two-month timetable. No word has come forth as to how much he's ramped up his activity level, although things should become clearer as his return date approaches.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Faces two-month absence following surgery

Garcia underwent surgery on his injured left ring finger and is expected to miss two months, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Garcia's injury continues to escalate in severity, as he was once thought to be close to avoiding a DL stint. Hopefully this reduces the chance of injury moving forward by nipping the ailment in the bud right now. This will knock him out until mid-August at the earliest, although more details on his return date should come forth as he ramps up his activity over the course of the summer. Rio Ruiz will likely pick up primary third baseman duties while Garcia is sidelined.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Heads to DL

Garcia was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a sprained left index finger, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.

Garcia was supposed to be available off the bench for Wednesday's contest against the Phillies, but the injury appears to be more serious than originally thought. He'll be eligible to return June 17 if he's ready, while Rio Ruiz should see the majority of reps at third base in Garcia's absence. Lane Adams was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Deemed available off bench Wednesday

Garcia (hand) is available to pinch hit Wednesday night against the Phillies, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Garcia injured a knuckle on his left hand swinging in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game, but it seems like the injury is minor and his absence from Wednesday's contest is precautionary. Of course, his availability heading into Thursday's bout should become clearer as that game's start time approaches, but Rio Ruiz will fill in for him as long as he's out.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Sidelined with apparent wrist issue

Garcia reportedly tweaked his left hand and wrist swinging in the ninth inning Tuesday night and was seen wearing a protective sleeve over the inflicted area Wednesday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The severity of the injury is unknown as of now, but this likely explains why Garcia is sitting out for the second time in three games. He may just need a few days of rest prior to returning to the hot corner, but while he's sidelined, look for Rio Ruiz to fill in for him. Garcia should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Rides pine Wednesday

Garcia is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies.

Garcia came out of the gate hot once he was activated off the disabled list, but after two straight hitless performances, he'll head to the bench for a night off. Rio Ruiz will take over at the hot corner to replace him.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Takes seat Monday

Garcia is out of the lineup Monday against the Phillies.

Garcia had started the last three games at third base since being activated from the disabled list, so it appears he ranks as the Braves' preferred option at the position. Rio Ruiz, who had been filling in for Garcia while he was tending to an Achilles injury, will pick up the start at the hot corner Monday.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Reclaims starting role

Garcia is starting at third base and hitting sixth Saturday against the Reds, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.

This is his second straight start against a righty, so it seems like he is back to being the Braves' primary third baseman, even with lefty-hitting third base prospect Rio Ruiz on the 25-man roster. Garcia has been worth negative-0.4 wins this season, according to FanGraphs, so he could give way to Ruiz with a prolonged cold streak at the plate.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Starting against righty

Garcia, who was activated from the DL on Friday, is starting at third base and hitting seventh against the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

This is a bit of a surprise, as the Braves face right-handed starter Bronson Arroyo, and Rio Ruiz was expected to occupy the strong side of the third base platoon. Perhaps it will be more of an even split going forward, which will make it difficult to get value from either third baseman.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Activated from DL

Garcia (Achilles) was activated from the 10-day DL on Friday.

He is unlikely to be in the lineup against righty Bronson Arroyo, but will be available off the bench for Friday's game. Garcia is expected to occupy the short side of a third base platoon with Rio Ruiz going forward.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Set to return Friday

Garcia (Achilles) will be activated from the DL on Friday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 31-year-old won't be returning to a starting job, however, as the Braves plan to use Garcia on the short side of a platoon at third base with rookie Rio Ruiz, putting a damper on the fantasy value of each of them.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Slated for week of rehab games

Garcia (Achilles) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinett on Friday night with an eye on returning for next weekend's series against Cincinnati, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.

Garcia was expected to return early next week, but the Braves want him to play four or five rehab games before coming back to the majors. He has only been out since May 16, but considering how sensitive Achilles injuries can be, Atlanta probably wants to ensure it is completely healed before putting Garcia back onto the roster.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Set for weekend rehab assignment

Garcia (achilles) is scheduled to play in rehab games with Triple-A Gwinnett over the weekend, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

While it was originally reported that Garcia may be ready to return to the Braves when first eligible Friday, that no longer appears to be the case. He'll instead head out on a minor league rehab assignment with -- barring any setbacks -- the hope of rejoining the big club Monday or Tuesday in Los Angeles for the team's series with the Angels.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Running with no issues

Garcia (Achilles) was able to run without problems Monday and could make his return when eligible Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

This may be one of those injury situations where the club would have waited it out if the DL minimum was still 15 days. Atlanta begins a road trip in San Francisco on Friday; expect Garcia to be back in the lineup for the first game of that series.

  • Braves' Adonis Garcia: Not anticipating lengthy absence

Garcia (Achilles) hopes to return to the Braves after the minimum 10-day stay on the disabled list, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Little was revealed about his Achilles ailment prior to him landing on the disabled list, but appears that the DL stint is simply a way to keep him off of the injury until it fully heals. As long as no extraneous circumstances occur in the coming days, Garcia seems to be in line for a return at the earliest possible date (May 26), although more details should emerge as his potential return date nears.
