Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Returns to starting lineup
Marte started at second base and went 2-for-4 with walk, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 15-4 win over the White Sox. Marte did not play in Sunday's game due to an illness and was held out of the starting lineup Monday, although he entered that game as a pinch hitter. He's hit in five straight games when starting, going 10-for-20 with three home runs, a double, six RBI and seven runs scored. He's up to 94 runs scored, three shy of the career-high 97 he had in 2019. The Diamondbacks have five games remaining while competing for a wild-card spot, so Marte should be a lineup staple going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Enters as pinch hitter
Marte (Illness) walked as a pinch hitter in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees. Marte walked for Jordan Lawlar in the eighth inning, loading the bases before Corbin Carroll drove in two with a single to give Arizona a brief lead. Marte stayed in the game to play second base. He'd been dealing with a stomach bug that made him unavailable Sunday and held him out of Monday's starting nine, but his usage suggests a return to the starting lineup Tuesday, when Arizona is in Chicago to start a three-game set with the White Sox.... Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Out Monday, plans to play Tuesday
Marte (illness) is out of the lineup for Monday's series finale against the Yankees, but he said he expects to return to the starting nine for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. Marte will hit the bench for the second game in a row while he recovers from a bout with the stomach flu, but he noted Monday that he's feeling better than he did a day earlier. He'll likely go through a workout early Tuesday before the Diamondbacks determine if he's fit to return to the lineup for the series opener in Chicago. With a .991 OPS thus far in September, Marte is doing his part to ensure the Diamondbacks stay in the thick of the National League wild-card race.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Remains out Monday
Marte (illness) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees. Marte was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Sunday's 7-1 win due to an illness and will end up sitting out Monday's series finale. With Marte on the bench, Arizona will deploy Geraldo Perdomo and Jordan Lawlar as its starters in the middle infield.... See More ... See Less -

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers in win
Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Giants. Marte followed up his perfect 4-for-4 performance Tuesday with a solo shot in the seventh inning for his 24th home run. The Diamondbacks won their fifth straight, all against wild-card competitors, and Marte has been prominent in the streak. The second baseman has gone 8-for-21 with a double, two home runs, five RBI, four walks, a stolen base and five runs scored during the run, as the Diamondbacks leapfrogged the Cubs for the second wild-card spot while perhaps putting a dagger in the Giants playoff hopes.... Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Perfect at plate Tuesday
Marte went 4-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Giants. This was Marte's first four-hit game of the season, though all of the hits were singles. The second baseman is batting .339 (21-for-62) over 16 games in September while adding 11 RBI and nine extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's up to a .279/.360/.487 slash line with 23 home runs, 79 RBI, 90 runs scored and six stolen bases over 142 contests.... See More ... See Less -

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Rejoins starting nine
Marte (knee) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Mets. He'll return to the lineup after a one-game absence due to a sore right knee. Marte has produced hits in all but one of his eight starts thus far in September, slashing .333/.394/.600 with five extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Could be available off bench
Marte (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs but could be available off the bench if needed, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. Marte was removed from Saturday's contest with left knee soreness after being hit by a pitch, and he's considered day-to-day after X-rays came back negative. The 29-year-old will be held out of the starting nine for at least one game, with Jace Peterson handling the keystone Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: X-rays negative
X-rays on Marte's right knee came back negative, but his status for Sunday's game remains uncertain, Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic reports. Marte stayed in the game Saturday after getting hit by a pitch on the right knee in the first inning but was eventually pulled in the seventh. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo wants to see how the knee progresses overnight before making a decision about Marte's status for the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Battling knee soreness
Marte left Saturday's game against the Cubs in the seventh inning due to right knee soreness. After fouling a ball off his right knee in the first inning, Marte's injury caught up to him in the seventh, and he was replaced at second base by Geraldo Perdomo. Marte's injury wouldn't seem to be too severe given he remained in the game for a prolonged stretch after the initial incident.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Exits early Saturday
Marte was removed from Saturday's game against the Cubs in the seventh inning, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. Marte fouled a ball off his right knee in the first inning of Saturday's contest, but he was able to stay in for another six innings afterward. The fact Marte was able to remain in the game for so long likely means he's not seriously injured, but the D-backs will surely keep an eye on him. Marte should be considered day-to-day for now.... Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Getting a breather
Marte is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Rockies. It appears to be a routine day off, which would be Marte's first since Aug. 17. Geraldo Perdomo will slide over to second base while Nick Ahmed gets a start at shortstop Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Lifts three-run homer
Marte went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 8-7 extra-innings loss to the Reds. Marte's fifth-inning blast put the Diamondbacks ahead 4-0, but it wasn't a lead they could hold. The second baseman has gone 6-for-18 (.333) with two homers and five RBI over his last five games. For the season, he's at 21 long balls, 67 RBI, 80 runs scored, six stolen bases and a .274/.355/.479 slash line through 122 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Belts 20th homer
Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Monday in a 4-3 extra-innings win against the Rangers. With Arizona trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Marte tagged Aroldis Chapman for a solo shot to left field to tie the score. The long ball was his 20th of the campaign, just the second season in his career that he has reached that mark. The other time was in 2019, when Marte went deep 32 times and drove in 92 runs. He'll be hard-pressed to reach those totals this year, but with 20 homers and 63 RBI, he's already posted his best numbers in those categories since that 2019 season.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Out of Thursday's lineup

The 29-year-old is slashing .284/.359/.495 with 18 home runs, 58 RBI, 73 runs scored and six stolen bases through 107 contests, though he's gone just 3-for-25 (.120) over seven games in August....
