Peterson checked out fine after taking a pitch off his right hand Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Peterson was removed from the A's spring game against the Cubs a half-inning after the HBP occurred, but he only sustained a minor bruise. The 32-year-old is set to open the 2023 campaign handling third-base duties in Oakland.... See More ... See Less

Athletics' Jace Peterson: Removed Wednesday after HBP
Peterson was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League against the Cubs an inning after he was hit by a pitch, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Peterson stayed in to run the bases, but he was unable to continue on the defensive end. The Athletics should provide an update on the 32-year-old before the end of Wednesday's contest.... Athletics' Jace Peterson: Holding own at plate in spring
Peterson is hitting .240 (6-for-25) with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, seven walks, a stolen base and four runs across 12 Cactus League games. The veteran is trying to lock down the starting third base job on the Opening Day roster. Peterson owns a career .231 average and .664 OPS across 741 big-league games, so his real-world and fantasy ceilings are irrefutably capped, but he's proven to be a serviceable contributor over the years. The left-hander should open the season seeing the majority of work against right-handed pitching, but he has managed a .268 batting average and .340 OBP versus southpaws over the last three seasons, albeit in only 94 plate appearances.... Athletics' Jace Peterson: Contract with Oakland official
Peterson's two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Athletics was formally announced Tuesday. Peterson has put up a .706 OPS with 14 home runs and 22 stolen bases over the last two seasons in a utility role with the Brewers. He should play pretty regularly against righties and offers some deep-league consideration mostly because of his speed.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Jace Peterson: Lands in Oakland
Peterson signed a two-year contract with the Athletics on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Peterson recorded a 76 wRC+ through the end of his age-29 season, but he's posted a 98 wRC+ since turning 30 prior to the 2020 campaign. That doesn't make him much more than a part-time player, though the Athletics have enough holes on their roster that Peterson could feature regularly. Between his mediocre bat, tough home park and weak surrounding lineup, even a regular role would leave Peterson without much fantasy appeal outside of deep leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Sitting versus lefty
Peterson isn't in the starting lineup Monday against Arizona. The lefty-hitting Peterson will take a seat Monday, as the lefty-throwing Tommy Henry will begin the game on the mound for the Diamondbacks. Mike Brosseau will start at the hot corner instead and bat leadoff for Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Losing work to Urias
Peterson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Peterson finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in five games. Though his absence Wednesday comes with southpaw Jose Quintana on the bump, the lefty-hitting Peterson has also sat against two right-handed pitchers during that five-game stretch. Luis Urias looks to have wrested a regular role in the infield away from Peterson.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Sitting against lefty

The third baseman is turning in career highs in batting average (.260), slugging percentage (.430), and OPS (.758) during 2022. Interestingly, the 32-year-old is outstanding on the road with an. 899 OPS in 156 plate appearances compared to a .569 OPS in 117 plate appearances at home.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Resting against another lefty
Peterson isn't in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants. Mike Brosseau is starting at third base and leading off.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Takes seat Sunday
Peterson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. With starts at third base in six of the previous seven contests, Peterson appears to have at least temporarily supplanted Luis Urias as the preferred option at the position. However, after striking out three times in Saturday's 8-6 win, Peterson will cede the hot corner to Urias in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Exits starting nine
Peterson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Though he's on the bench for the series finale against Pirates right-hander Zach Thompson, Peterson started against right-handed pitchers in each of the past three contests and went 3-for-8 with a run scored. At least for the time being, Peterson may have overtaken Luis Urias as the Brewers' preferred third baseman with the latter slashing .153/.287/.292 in August. Urias will get a chance to try and right the ship Wednesday while Peterson rests.... See More ... See Less -
