Sanchez signed a one-year, $8.5 million contract with the Orioles on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Sanchez spent the 2024 season with the Brewers and was a decent source of power, popping 11 homers and maintaining a .172 ISO across 280 plate appearances. He should be locked into the backup job behind the plate while also potentially picking up a few extra starts at designated hitter.
The Brewers declined Sanchez's $11 million mutual option for 2025 on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Sanchez slashed .220/.307/.392 across 280 plate appearances in 2024 while serving as Milwaukee's backup catcher behind William Contreras. Rather than keeping Sanchez in town for another year on an $8 million raise, the Brewers will move on from the 31-year old backstop and perhaps look to Eric Haase to fill his place. Meanwhile, Sanchez's power bat may draw attention from several teams this offseason.

A left calf strain forced Sanchez onto the IL in late June, and he has since gone 1-for-6 with a walk through two rehab games at Triple-A Nashville. Once activated, the 31-year-old backstop will presumably reclaim his role as Milwaukee's backup catcher, replacing Eric Haase.
