  • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Being benched Tuesday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Castellanos is being held out of Tuesday's lineup in Miami after making an inappropriate comment following his removal from Monday's contest, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. It does not seem as though the benching will extend beyond Tuesday's game. It's the first time since September of 2023 that Castellanos is out of the lineup, as he had started 236 consecutive regular-season contests. The Phillies will have an outfield of Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas and Max Kepler on Tuesday.

Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a triple in Wednesday's 7-2 victory over the Cubs. It was the first three-bagger of the year for Castellanos, who continues to be a steady presence in the heart of the Phillies' lineup. Over his last 16 outings (61 plate appearances), the veteran slugger is slashing a robust .328/.361/.534 with two homers, four doubles and three RBI. Castellanos has also batted in the cleanup spot in five of Philadelphia's last six games with Bryce Harper (wrist) on the injured list.

  • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Slugs sixth long ball in loss

Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Toronto. It was the sixth long ball of the season for Castellanos, who has been hitting for some more power of late. Over his last 10 outings, the veteran slugger is batting .286 (10-for-35) with two homers, two doubles and four RBI to go with four runs scored and one stolen base. As long as Castellanos is regularly hitting fourth or fifth in Philadelphia's lineup, he should continue to see plenty of RBI opportunities.

  • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Five hits in doubleheader

Castellanos went 5-for-8 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's doubleheader split with Atlanta. After going 4-for-4 in the opening game, Castellanos scored the Phillies' second run in the nightcap after smacking a one-out double in the eighth inning. The 33-year-old hasn't been hitting for much power -- he has just four home runs this year, and only one in his last 40 games. However, he's gone 8-for-18 (.444) in his previous five contests. Overall, Castellanos is slashing .288/.329/.409 with 29 RBI, 25 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases through 234 plate appearances this year.

Castellanos went 3-for-8 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored as the Phillies split their doubleheader versus the Cardinals on Wednesday. Castellanos (hip) is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Marlins on Friday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Launches first spring home run

Castellanos launched his first home run of the spring in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays, adding two runs scored and a walk. It was an encouraging effort by Castellanos, who belted an opposite-field homer in the fourth inning Thursday after going just 2-for-14 in his first five games this spring. The 33-year-old outfielder played all 162 games last season, and he should have plenty of RBI upside while batting in the heart of a potent Phillies lineup.
