Grossman is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Royals.
Grossman had started in the corner outfield and occupied the leadoff spot in each of the previous eight games, reaching base at a .417 clip during that stretch while providing limited counting stats (zero home runs, one stolen base, three runs and one RBI). Given how poorly the White Sox offense as a whole has performed this season, Grossman has probably done enough to retain a near-everyday role, though he could sit more frequently than he had been over the past week after Chicago welcomed Eloy Jimenez back from the injured list Monday. Jimenez will serve as the White Sox's designated hitter in the opening game Wednesday, while Andrew Benintendi and Gavin Sheets start at the corner-outfield spots.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Performing well in leadoff role
Grossman went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base Wednesday against the Guardians.
Grossman joined the White Sox on Friday after the team lost Eloy Jimenez (thigh). He's been in the lineup for five of six games since and occupied the leadoff spot on four occasions. While he's hitting only .167 in that span, Grossman has worked five free passes and scored three runs while also stealing a base. Given the injury to Luis Robert (hip), it's likely that Grossman will stick on the roster when Jimenez returns -- which could come as soon as Friday.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Will get extended look at leadoff
Grossman will get an extended chance to serve as the White Sox's leadoff hitter, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Grossman had his contract selected by the club Friday and has started two of three games since. He led off for the first time Sunday and went 0-for-5, but after the game, manager Pedro Grifol suggested Grossman would get more looks at the top of the order. Andrew Benintendi has served as the leadoff hitter to this point, but he hit fifth Sunday and could stick in that position.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Contract selected
The White Sox selected Grossman's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
The veteran outfielder signed with Chicago late in camp and will quickly join the big club after going 4-for-10 with two homers in three games at Triple-A. Grossman will take the place of Eloy Jimenez (groin), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, although the White Sox will likely find another player to jettison from the 26-man roster once Jimenez is healthy.

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Thursday that Grossman may join the MLB roster within the next week, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Grossman has been on fire to start the season at Triple-A Charlotte. going 3-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI across Charlotte's first two games. There's no telling exactly when the 34-year-old will join the active roster, but Getz lauded Grossman as being an accomplished hitter in the majors and emphasized his ability to play multiple outfield positions, so a move could come sooner rather than later.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Links up with South Siders
Grossman signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Friday that includes an invite to big-league camp, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Grossman was unable to land a contract this offseason until now, but he will join Chicago for the final days of spring training. The veteran outfielder played in 115 games for the Rangers last season and had a .238/.340/.394 slash line with 10 home runs.
