  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Tracking toward homestand return

General manager Rick Hahn said that Andrus (oblique) could be activated from the 10-day injured list during the White Sox's current homestand, which runs through Sunday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Andrus has missed the last two weeks with a strained oblique but began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend, going 3-for-7 with a home run in two games. Romy Gonzalez has played well lately and the White Sox have also talked about using Jake Burger at second base, but Andrus still seems likely to receive most of the starts at the keystone once he's activated.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Assignment coming next week

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Andrus (oblique) will require a rehab assignment, but it likely won't come until next week, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Andrus landed on the injured list May 13 with a left oblique strain. There's still no word on how long the White Sox plan to keep him on assignment, but it appears he's still a couple weeks from returning regardless of how long he spends in the minors.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Hitting off tee

Andrus (oblique) is hitting off a tee and taking grounders Friday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Andrus is eligible for activation from the injured list Tuesday, and it would seem he has a shot at a minimum IL stint as he's already resumed hitting. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since early May with a left oblique strain.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: To IL with oblique strain

Andrus was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained left oblique. Romy Gonzalez (shoulder) was activated in a corresponding move. Hanser Alberto, who is starting at second base Saturday, and Gonzalez will be tasked with the keystone duties in Andrus' absence.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Leaves with apparent injury

Andrus left Friday's game against the Athletics with an apparent injury, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Andrus was seen holding his side as he jogged back to the dugout and was unable to continue. Hanser Alberto took over at second base. Andrus should be considered day-to-day at this point.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Sitting out

Andrus is absent from the White Sox' lineup Thursday in Kansas City. The veteran infielder will grab some pine while Lenyn Sosa gets the start at second base. Andrus is sporting a lowly .206/.286/.260 slash line this season.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Big night from bottom of order

Andrus went 1-for-1 with two walks, a three-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 win over the Reds. Hitting ninth against a right-hander once again, the veteran infielder took Hunter Greene deep in the fifth inning to get the White Sox on the board. It was Andrus' first homer of the season while his third-inning pilfer was his fifth, and the 34-year-old outfielder has struggled to make an impact in general so far in 2023, slashing .204/.289/.265.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Tallies three hits in win

Andrus went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-9 win over the Rays. Andrus notched his first three-hit effort of the campaign and his fourth multi-hit game overall on the year. He was able to raise his slash line to .206/.274/.245 and now has nine RBI, nine runs and a 7:20 BB:K over 113 plate appearances. He totaled 17 home runs a season ago between the Athletics and the Sox but has not left the yard yet over the first month of the season. The 34-year-old is playing nearly every day but has not churned out enough production early on to be considered a fantasy asset.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Swipes fourth bag

Andrus went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base Friday against the Rays. Andrus was hitless for the fifth time in his last six starts and managed his first walk since April 21. He added some additional value by stealing second base in the sixth inning -- his fourth stolen bag of the campaign. Overall, he's hitting only .183/.260/.215 on the season with six RBI and seven runs scored across 104 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Stabilizing production

Andrus went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI on Friday against the Rays. Andrus delivered an RBI single in the second inning and drew a bases-loaded walk one frame later to account for both of his RBI. He has at least one hit in six of his last seven games, scoring four runs and also swiping a bag in that span. Andrus is still climbing out of a slow start to the season and has a .217/.286/.261 slash line across 77 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Doubles twice Friday

Andrus went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored Friday against the Orioles. Andrus began a rally in the sixth inning when he led off with a double and came around to score. He was in need of a strong performance, as he now has only two games with multiple hits across his 14 starts this season. Overall, Andrus has just a .173/.200/.231 line across 55 plate appearances, though he has a .209 BABIP and is striking out at a very reasonable 18.2 percent clip.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Bright spot in loss

Andrus went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Giants. The White Sox were blown out in the game, so when Andrus delivered a two-RBI single in the ninth inning it came off of outfielder Matt Beaty. Andrus' line is less impressive as a result, though he did manage to reach base on a walk and steal third base with Alex Wood on the mound in the second inning. The effort was Andrus' first multi-hit performance of the season, though he does have two stolen bases in only seven games.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Tallies first steal

Andrus went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Astros. After hitting eighth Opening Day, Andrus hit at the bottom of the White Sox's order Friday. He reached base on an infield single in the fifth inning and then proceeded to swipe second base -- his first steal of the season -- before being stranded. Andrus is locked into the starting second base role in Chicago, and he should be a source of moderate production in both home runs and stolen bases.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Returns to White Sox

Andrus signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the White Sox on Sunday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Andrus joined the White Sox in August of 2022 after being released by Oakland, and he slashed .271/.309/.464 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs and 11 stolen bases over 43 games with the club while mainly filling in for Tim Anderson, who missed the final two months of the season with a hand injury. Andrus will be in the mix to serve as the White Sox's starting second baseman to begin the 2023 campaign, especially since the team views Leury Garcia as a backup.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Another strong game Tuesday

Andrus went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Twins. The shortstop's hot stretch to close out the year has lifted his season slash line to .250/.304/.407 with 17 homers, 18 steals, 58 RBI and 66 runs scored through 148 games between the White Sox and the Athletics.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Smacks 16th homer

Andrus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Padres. Andrus took Blake Snell deep in the sixth inning to record his 16th homer of the season. The performance continued a surprising surge in power for Andrus, as he now has seven long balls across his last 29 games. He's also chipped in nine stolen bases in that span while hitting .288, reminiscent of his production dating back to the 2019 campaign.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Fills stat sheet Saturday

Andrus went 3-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base and two total RBI in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Padres. Andrus took the second pitch of the game from Mike Clevinger deep to left-center field. The shortstop added two more hits, including an RBI single in the eighth that produced the White Sox's other run. He had half of their six hits in the game and tacked on a stolen base for good measure. He's now hit safely in his last two games after going 0-for-22 across his previous five. The 34-year-old owns a .250/.305/.399 slash line with 15 homers, 17 steals, 54 RBI and 63 runs scored across 145 games between the White Sox and the Athletics this year.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Sleeper hitters for Week 26 (Sept. 26-Oct. 5)

Andrus continues his inexplicable production at the top of the White Sox lineup, and lately, he's been running wild as well with six stolen bases in his past 10 games. The White Sox's matchups are decent enough, featuring six games against the Twins rotation over a nine-game span.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Pair of steals in loss

Andrus went 2-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases, an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings loss to the Guardians. Andrus continues to swing a hot bat -- he has multiple hits in 14 of his last 22 contests, going 34-for-94 (.362) in that span. The shortstop has also run wild on the basepaths lately, recording seven steals in his last 10 games. He's up to 15 thefts in 19 tries this year. Andrus has added a steady .258/.315/.411 slash line with 14 home runs, 52 RBI, 62 runs scored and 31 doubles through 135 games between the White Sox and the Athletics.

  • White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Possible waiver wire pickups

Just when you thought things couldn't possibly get better for Andrus, the 34-year-old has started running again, swiping a bag in three straight games and four of five overall. That goes along with his five home runs in 15 games, a stretch during which he's batting .354 (23 for 65). Again, I have no explanation for this rejuvenation but consider it a gift at a time when there's so left to be mined on the waiver wire, especially now that he's come up with another way (perhaps the most valuable of all) to contribute. Sure, it could all end at a moment's notice, but over the small sample of season we have left, literally, anyone could go bust.
