The Minnesota Twins have announced that closer Matt Capps will be reinstated from the disabled list in time for Friday's game against the Athletics. As a corresponding move, they have optioned right-handed pitcher Kyle Waldrop back to Triple-A Rochester.

Capps had been on the shelf since June 24 with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. He had a two-game rehab stint for Class-A Fort Myers and did not allow an earned run.

Capps, 28, has saved 14 of his 15 chances this season with a 3.42 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings.

The Twins initially used Jared Burton for save chances with Capps injured, but more recently went with Glen Perkins.
