The Mets have lost six games in a row -- all five since the All-Star break -- and eight of their last 10, but they won't be sellers at the deadline, and they won't overpay in any deal if they're buying, wrote ESPN's Adam Rubin.

  • Mets assistant GM John Ricco said there's no trade available right now that doesn't compromise their future.
  • The Mets don't want to make another Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano type deal.
  • Rubin notes that GM Sandy Alderson is only willing to part with Class A prospects right now, rather than prospects who could potentially make an impact with the Mets in 2013 or 2014.
  • The Mets acknowledge that they need bullpen help -- their 5.03 reliever ERA is the worst in the National League.
  • Alderson is interested in Francisco Rodriguez, and Huston Street, tweeted Andy Martino with the New York Daily News, but the Mets' recent losing streak may have changed things.
  • A scout recently said, "it's more than Grant Balfour standing between this team and a ring," Martino also tweeted
  • On Wednesday, CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler tweeted that the Mets are among a number of teams showing interest in Royals closer Jonathan Broxton, who has 22 saves and a 2.14 ERA in 33 games.
  • On Tuesday, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman wrote that the Mets have deemed prices for relief help -- Street and Rodriguez in particular -- a bit "too pricey" right now.
