The Pirates have signed right-handed pitcher Kyle Waldrop to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training, the team announced Tuesday.

Waldrop, 27, made 17 appearances with the Twins in 2012, going 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and seven strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings.

In 35 appearances at Triple-A in 2012, the former first-round pick had a 3.34 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 35 innings.
