San Francisco Giants: Buyers
Why: At 45-35, the Giants lead the NL West. Even if the Dodgers take the division, the Giants will be a major contender for the wild card.
Who do they need: The Giants could use some help in the middle infield, where Brandon Crawford and Ryan Theriot have struggled this season. With Aubrey Huff currently injured, the team could also look for a corner outfielder.
Who can they deal: The team is unlikely to deal any of their major contributors, but the Giants don't have great depth, either. It's no secret they would love to get rid of Barry Zito, but he's still owed a significant amount of money. Unless the Giants are willing to eat most of his contract, he'll stay put.
Even without Brian Wilson, the team's bullpen has done well. While the Giants probably want to keep Sergio Romo, they could dangle Javier Lopez, Jeremy Affeldt or Santiago Casilla and see if anyone bites.
Who is available: Carlos Lee could provide some offense, but he's a bad fit. Brandon Belt has finally started hitting, and there's no need to bring in a first baseman. Lee also just declined a trade to the Dodgers, and it's unclear if he would accept a deal to San Francisco. If the Rockies make Marco Scutaro available, he could shore up the Giants' middle infield.
Verdict: The Giants have a few holes, but don't have a ton of pieces to give up. If the Giants can make some small upgrades, especially in the middle infield, they'll probably get something done at the deadline.
