The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired catcher Yorvit Torrealba from the Blue Jays in exchange for cash, the Brewers announced Friday.

Torrealba has hit .233/.297/.339 in 212 plate appearances this season, with most of his work coming with the Texas Rangers. After the Rangers released him Aug. 8, the Blue Jays signed Torrealba to a contract Aug. 14.

He hit .214/.267/.321 in 28 plate appearances with the Blue Jays.

The Brewers will be Torrealba's seventh different team in his career, with the catcher previously playing for the Giants, Mariners, Rockies and Padres in addition to the Rangers and Blue Jays.

Torrealba will likely fill a depth role in Milwaukee behind starter Jonathan Lucroy, who has hit .321/.371/.500 in 308 plate appearances for the Brewers this year.
