The list of Blue Jays pitchers on the disabled list is getting a bit large. The latest is rookie Drew Hutchison, who had to leave Friday night's start with an elbow injury. Saturday morning, the Blue Jays placed Hutchison on the DL with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, the club announced.

The UCL is the ligament that, if torn, requires Tommy John surgery to repair. Hutchison has avoided a tear, at least according to his initial diagnosis.

Hutchison told reporters that he's completely shut down for two weeks (Shi Davidi via Twitter).

"Everything right now points to avoiding surgery and time will be needed for it to heal down," said manager John Farrell (via Davidi).

Hutchison joins fellow Jays' pitchers Kyle Drabek, Jesse Litsch, Dustin McGowan, Brandon Morrow and Sergio Santos on the DL. Ricky Romero, Henderson Alvarez and Brett Cecil are the three remaining healthy members of the rotation.

As a corresponding move to Hutchison hitting the DL, relief pitcher Robert Coello has been recalled. Expect more roster shuffling in the upcoming days, as the Jays need two more starters.
