Soliai is not a lock to make the final 53-man roster, the Panthers' official site reports.
Soliai, a former Pro Bowler, signed with Carolina in the offseason. The Panthers are expected to keep four or five defensive tackles on their active roster this season, with Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short and first-round pick Vernon Butler all listed as locks. That would mean Soliai will be in line to compete with Kyle Love and Chas Alecxih for one or two roster spots. Soliai should be expected to win this battle, but it's not guaranteed.
