Aldon Smith: Won't be back in Dallas

The Cowboys don't intend to re-sign Smith, Ed Werder of ESPN reports.

Smith logged an impressive comeback season with the Cowboys in 2020, recording 48 tackles and five sacks while playing the full 16-game slate in what was his first NFL action since 2015. Though he opened the season on a high note, he lost some steam down the stretch, going without a sack from Weeks 9 through 17. Now a free agent and with Dallas having decided to move on, Smith will likely have to settle for a rotational role with another club regardless of where he lands next.
