Angels' Brandon Drury: Sitting Saturday
Drury is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros. Drury is absent from the starting nine for a second straight game, yielding to Jack Lopez at second base. Drury had started two consecutive games after missing five straight contests with a hamstring injury. It's unclear if his back-to-back absences are related to the hamstring injury.... See More ... Angels' Brandon Drury: Absent from Friday's lineup
Drury is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Houston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Drury started the last two games after returning from a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury, but he'll be given some rest Friday. Jack Lopez is occupying second base for the Angels.... Angels' Brandon Drury: Back in at DH on Wednesday
Drury (hamstring) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game versus the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Drury is back in action for the first time in a week after he had been battling a sore left hamstring. Injuries have limited him to just 88 games this season, and he's managed a dreadful .478 OPS during that time.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Brandon Drury: Remains out Tuesday
Drury (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox. Drury will remain on the bench for a fifth consecutive contest as he continues to nurse a left hamstring issue. Drury (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Angels' Brandon Drury: Idle Friday
Drury (hamstring) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Hamstring tightness forced Drury to make an early exit from Wednesday's contest, and it seems he'll need another day to recover following Thursday's off day. In his place, Michael Stefanic will start at the keystone and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Brandon Drury: Exits with hamstring tightness
Drury was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins due to left hamstring tightness. It wasn't immediately clear when Drury suffered the injury, but his hamstring was apparently bothering him enough to warrant his removal in the fifth inning. The Angels' scheduled off day Thursday will give him an extra day to rest, but Michael Stefanic could be in line for a start at second base if Drury's absence extends into Friday.... See More ... Angels' Brandon Drury: Belts long homer in victory
Drury went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Monday in a 6-2 win against the Twins. Drury's third-inning solo shot to left field traveled an estimated 459 feet. It was his first extra-base hit of September, though he's been swinging the bat decently well this month, hitting .276 over 29 at-bats through eight contests. That's a vast improvement over the .157 mark he posted through the end of August.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Brandon Drury: Knocks homer in loss
Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Mariners. Drury has homered twice over his last four contests after a 62-game power drought. He's still not hitting particularly well, going 3-for-26 (.115) over his last eight games. For the season, the infielder is at a .159/.243/.218 slash line with three homers, 13 RBI, 25 runs scored and six doubles over 284 plate appearances. Most of his lost playing time has been due to injuries, but the Angels could reduce his workload over the final month if they want to get a look at an infield prospect such as Christian Moore or evaluate other members of their current major-league roster.... Angels' Brandon Drury: Heading to bench Thursday
Drury is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Drury will get a breather for the day game after a night game, opening up the keystone for Michael Stefanic in the series finale in Detroit. After another hitless effort in Wednesday's 3-2 loss, Drury is now slashing an abysmal .153/.239/.202 over 280 plate appearances. Given Drury's season-long struggles along with the fact that he's scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, the Angels could look to push him into more of a part-time role in September.... Angels' Brandon Drury: Ends power drought in loss
Drury went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays. Drury ended a power drought dating back to April with his eighth-inning homer, though it had little impact on the result. He missed time with a hamstring injury and an illness, but he hit just .144 and slugged a pitiful .170 over 62 games from April 15 to Aug. 24. While he's maintained regular playing time when healthy, Drury is in the midst of his worst season since 2020, slashing .157/.242/.207 with two homers, 11 RBI, 24 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 273 plate appearances this year.... See More ... See Less -
