Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia vs. William & Mary football game
Game Recap
The Virginia Cavaliers got themselves on the board against the William & Mary Tribe on Saturday, but William & Mary never followed suit. Virginia claimed a resounding 43 to nothing victory over the Tribe at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cavaliers had established a 29 to nothing advantage.
Virginia QB Brennan Armstrong was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 334 yards on 30 attempts in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns. Near the top of the highlight reel was Armstrong's 65-yard TD bomb to WR Demick Starling in the third quarter. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Nick Jackson, who racked up nine tackles.
The matchup brought Virginia to 1-0 and dropped William & Mary to a mirror-image 0-1.
Virginia will play host again and welcome the Illinois Fighting Illini to David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET next Saturday. Unlike the Cavaliers, Illinois will be limping in after taking a loss. As for the Tribe, they will go up against the Lafayette Leopards at 6 p.m. ET next Saturday at Walter J. Zable Stadium at Cary Field. Lafayette is looking for a pick-me-up after a 35-14 blowout defeat to the Air Force Falcons.
