Last Saturday, Miami of Ohio was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 21-17 to Toledo.
Nobody from Miami of Ohio had a standout game, but they got scores from Rashad Amos and Kenny Tracy.
Meanwhile, Ohio sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ohio to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kurtis Rourke, who threw for 275 yards and a touchdown. Sam Wiglusz was another key contributor, picking up 155 receiving yards and a touchdown.
With Miami of Ohio's loss and Ohio's win, both teams now sport identical 6-2 records.
While only Ohio took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. Looking ahead, Ohio is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by seven points. This contest will be their fifth straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 2-2 against the spread).
Miami of Ohio ended up a good deal behind Ohio in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 37-21. Can Miami of Ohio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
