Michigan State vs. Rutgers Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Michigan State vs. Rutgers football game
Game Recap
The Michigan State Spartans were the 27 to nothing winners over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights when they previously met last November. On Saturday? They had no such luck. The Spartans fell to RU 38-27. If the result catches you off guard, it should: MSU was far and away the favorite.
The Scarlet Knights' RB Isaih Pacheco looked sharp as he punched in two rushing touchdowns. QB Noah Vedral didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
RU's defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected two interceptions and five fumbles. The picks came courtesy of DB Tre Avery and DB Brendon White.
No one had a standout game offensively for MSU, but they got scores from WR Jayden Reed and WR Jalen Nailor. Rocky Lombardi's 50-yard touchdown toss to Reed in the first quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the day.
This was the first contest for both squads, making it a 0-1 start for MSU and a 1-0 start for the Scarlet Knights.
The Spartans will take on the Michigan Wolverines at noon ET next Saturday at Michigan Stadium. As for RU, they will face off against the Indiana Hoosiers at noon ET next Saturday at SHI Stadium. Like RU, IU is also coming into the matchup bolstered by a recent win.
