Louisiana vs. UL Monroe updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Louisiana vs. Louisiana-Monroe football game
Halftime Report
Fortunes may be turning around for Louisiana after losing three in a row. They have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead UL Monroe 31-14. Louisiana's offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, outscoring their total from last Saturday with time still left to play.
Louisiana came into the match with some extra motivation after the loss they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.
Preview
The UL Monroe Warhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Cajun Field. UL Monroe has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 9.
UL Monroe gave up the first points and the most points on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Ole Miss, falling 35-3. UL Monroe was surely aware of their disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Warhawks weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 66 passing yards. They were demolished by their opponents in that department as Ole Miss passed for 371.
Meanwhile, things were looking good for Louisiana after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 31-24 to Troy. Louisiana just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Chandler Fields, who threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.4% of his passes.
UL Monroe bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.8 points per game. As for Louisiana, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Not only did Louisiana and UL Monroe lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Going forward, Louisiana is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 12 points. Bettors picking them against the spread have some confidence (to put it mildly), as the team is sitting on a three-game streak of failing to cover when expected to win.
UL Monroe didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Louisiana when the teams last played back in September of 2022, but they still walked away with a 21-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for UL Monroe since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
