Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Wednesday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina football game
Game Recap
After flying high against the Arkansas State Red Wolves two weeks ago, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers came back down to earth. It was a hard-fought contest, but Coastal Carolina had to settle for a 30-27 loss against the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Wednesday. The Chanticleers were up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Appalachian State's success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Chase Brice, who passed for two TDs and 347 yards on 28 attempts in addition to picking up 34 yards on the ground, and WR Malik Williams, who caught ten passes for one TD and 206 yards. Brice's performance made up for a slower game against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns last Tuesday. RB Camerun Peoples also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
No one had a standout game offensively for Coastal Carolina, but they got scores from RB Shermari Jones and WR Kameron Brown. One of the most thrilling moments was Brown's 74-yard TD reception up the middle in the first quarter.
With their first defeat of the season, Coastal Carolina fell to 6-1. Appalachian State's win brought them up to 5-2.
The Chanticleers will be playing at home against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. ET next week. The Mountaineers will be hunkering down at home again for their matchup against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 30 at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
