North Carolina basketball roster news
The Tar Heels' coaching staff has already landed two coveted players via the transfer portal. West Virginia transfer guard Jonathan Powell was the first portal commitment this offseason and made the decision without visiting campus. Powell played a major role for the Mountaineers in his freshman season, averaging 8.3 points and 3.1 rebounds across 30.1 minutes of action. He finished second in the Big 12 in 3-pointers made by a freshman (62), shooting 35.2% on the season.
UNC also got a commitment from Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar. The 7-footer averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists, while knocking down 59.2% of his field goals last season. He was even more effective finishing around the basket, connecting on 76% of his shot attempts at the rim. Veesaar was ranked the No. 36 player in the 2022 class by 247Sports and has two years of eligibility remaining. Get the latest North Carolina basketball roster news from InsideCarolina.
