The madness is in full swing in the NCAA Women's Tournament. The No. 9 seed Miami Hurricanes are headed to the Sweet 16 after upsetting No. 1 seed Indiana in the Greenville 2 Regional 70-68, thanks to a game-winning shot from Destiny Harden with 3.3 seconds left. Harden's shot came after Yarden Garzon tied the game at 68 with a step-back 3-pointer with eight seconds reamining. Miami is off to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1992, where they'll take on No. 4 seed Villanova. Indiana's loss, meanwhile, means that for the first time since 1998, two No. 1 seeds are out of the NCAA women's tourney before the Sweet 16.
Villanova punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 with a 76-57 win over Florida Gulf Coast. The nation's leading scorer Maddy Siegrist scored 31 points -- her 16th 30-point game of the season -- in the Wildcats' final home game. Lucy Olsen was also excellent, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with seven assists for the second double-double of her 2022-23 campaign.
Last season, Hailey Van Lith burst on the national scene, averaging 19 points per game during Louisville's run to the Final Four. After two games in this year's NCAA Tournament, Van Lith is turning in another outstanding Big Dance. She led Louisville with 21 points and sparked a surprisingly comfortable win over Texas to get the Cardinals back to the Sweet 16. Louisville now takes on No. 8 seed Ole Miss in the Seattle 4 Regional semifinals for their sixth straight trip to the Sweet 16.
