Walman (illness) will be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Walman, who missed the past two games, has accounted for four goals, eight points, 34 shots on net and 50 blocked shots across 18 contests this season. He will probably replace Justin Holl (undisclosed), who is questionable to play, in the lineup.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Jake Walman: Not playing Sunday
Walman (illness) won't play Sunday against Minnesota, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Walman will miss his second straight contest. He has four goals, eight points, 34 shots on net and 50 blocked shots across 18 games this season. Shayne Gostisbehere is slated to play alongside Moritz Seider in Walman's absence.... See More ... Red Wings' Jake Walman: Questionable for Sunday
Walman (illness) is considered questionable for Sunday's tilt versus Minnesota. Walman missed Friday's contest versus the Bruins and is in danger of sitting again Sunday. Walman has four goals and four assists in 18 games this season. If he can't go Sunday, Walman's next chance to return would come Wednesday against the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Delivers power-play helper
Walman supplied a power-play assist to complement five blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Devils. Walman is set up for success as a top-pairing defenseman averaging 20:30 of ice time, including 1:58 on the power play and 2:41 shorthanded. He's not nearly as potent offensively as his defensive partner Moritz Seider, but efficiency is the name of the game for Walman, who boasts a plus-7 rating to complement four goals, four assists and 49 blocked shots through 18 contests. Best of all? Half of his points have been contributed on the power play.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Set to return Wednesday
Walman (undisclosed) is expected back in the lineup versus New Jersey on Wednesday, Sean Shapiro of EP Rinkside reports. Walman will avoid missing any game action after being injured while playing in Sweden against Toronto. The blueliner has just one point in his last five contests despite averaging 2:51 of ice time with the man advantage. Even with the recent slump, Walman should challenge for the 20-point threshold for the first time in his NHL career.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Questionable for practice Tuesday
Walman (undisclosed) is questionable for practice Tuesday but might still play against New Jersey on Wednesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Walman logged 12:29 of ice time in Friday's clash with the Maple Leafs before being forced to exit the game with his undisclosed injury. In 17 games this season, the blueliner has notched four goals and three assists, including three power-play points. If Walman misses any time, Jeff Petry figures to rejoin the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch versus Toronto.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Sustains undisclosed injury
Walman suffered an undisclosed injury during Friday's game against Toronto and won't return. Walman sustained the injury when he crashed into the net during the second period, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press. Going into Friday's action, the 27-year-old defenseman had four goals, seven points, 18 PIM, four hits and 43 blocks in 16 appearances this season. If he can't play Wednesday versus New Jersey, then Jeff Petry will likely draw back into the lineup after being scratched Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Pots fluky game-winner Saturday
Walman scored the game-winning goal on two shots on net and added four blocked shots in Saturday's 5-4 victory over the Blue Jackets. With Detroit ahead 4-3 early in the third period, Walman fired a point shot that caromed off a Columbus defender, hit the end boards, then bounced off the back of goalie Spencer Martin's leg and into the net. While the 27-year-old blueliner won't be able to repeat that billiards shot any time soon, Walman's been productive of late with three goals and four points over the last six games. However, his fantasy value could be on shaky ground -- he didn't see a second of ice time on the power play Saturday, with Shayne Gostisbehere, Jeff Petry and Moritz Seider splitting those duties instead.... Red Wings' Jake Walman: Helps Red Wings in comeback win
Walman contributed a goal and an assist in a 4-3 overtime win over Detroit on Monday. With Detroit down 2-0, Walman assisted on Daniel Sprong's marker at 7:55 of the third period and then provided his own goal just 100 seconds later to tie the game. It was the first multi-point game of Walman's career. The 27-year-old defenseman has two goals and five points in 10 outings this year. That's a solid start to the campaign, but he probably won't maintain that offensive pace. Walman's career high in points is 18, set in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Racking up blocks
Walman has been credited with a team-high eight blocked shots through two games this season. Walman has also supplied one assist, six shots on goal, one hit and six PIM to begin the 2023-24 season. He collected 18 points and 121 blocked shots across 63 appearances last season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Dealing with upper-body issue
Walman (upper body) will not participate in the World Championship. Walman set new career bests with nine goals, 18 points and 140 shots through 63 games this season. The 27-year-old was expected to represent Team Canada this offseason but now he'll use that time to heal before the 2023-24 campaign. An update on his status may not be available until closer to training camp.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Nice fit in Motown
Walman posted 18 points, 47 hits, 121 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating through 63 games this season. A shoulder injury caused Walman to get off to a late start to the campaign, but he made quite the impression for the Wings upon returning, as the aforementioned totals were all career-best marks. The Blues' castoff had played sparingly in St. Louis to start his career, though he leveled up with his new team, managing a whopping 140 shots on goal and lighting the lamp nine times to complement the same number of helpers. He inked a three-year, $10.2 million deal in February as a major boon to his confidence. From a fantasy perspective, there's a chance he'll be on the radar in deep leagues this fall.... See More ... Red Wings' Jake Walman: Provides game-winning goal
Walman found the back of the net in a 3-2 victory over Carolina on Thursday. Walman supplied the deciding goal with just four seconds left in the third period. It was the 27-year-old's second career game-winner. Through 55 appearances in 2022-23, Walman has nine goals and 15 points. March has been a decent month offensively by his standards, with four goals and five points over 14 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Pots seventh goal
Walman found the back of the net in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks. The Wings likely appreciate the competitiveness that Walman brings to the table. He signed a three-year, $10.2 million contract extension at the end of February, and the defenseman's minutes are up since the Wings dealt Filip Hronek to the Canucks. Walman has seven goals, five assists and 87 blocked shots through 45 games; those numbers won't impress your average fantasy manager, but he's earned a plus-16 rating and is clearly trending in the right direction.... Red Wings' Jake Walman: Pockets assist in loss
Walman provided an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Kraken. This was Walman's second game back from an upper-body injury that kept him out for three contests. He set up a Pius Suter tally in the first period. Walman has seen steady top-four usage as a defensive specialist this season, though he's also matched his career high with 10 points in 36 contests. The 26-year-old blueliner has added 81 shots on net, 66 blocked shots, 32 hits, 24 PIM and a plus-15 rating.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Ready to return
Walman (upper body) will play Thursday versus the Flames. Walman will resume his usual top-pairing role alongside Moritz Seider after a three-game absence. Gustav Lindstrom will be scratched to make room in the lineup for Walman, who has just one assist over his last nine outings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Unavailable Wednesday
Walman (upper body) will miss Wednesday's game versus Edmonton. Walman is set to be absent for his third straight game. He has five goals and nine points in 34 contests this season. With Walman unavailable, Gustav Lindstrom is projected to stay in the lineup for the second consecutive game.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Suffers upper-body injury
Walman is day-to-day with an upper-body injury suffered Thursday versus Calgary, Red Wings' reporter Carley Johnston reports. Walman was not at practice Friday. He should be considered day-to-day at this time. Walman has five goals and nine points with a plus-14 rating in 34 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Extends point streak in loss
Walman scored his fifth goal of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. While Moritz Seider is the future on the blue line for Detroit, Walman is suddenly looking like a key piece as well. The 26-year-old has a point in four straight games, finding the back of the net in three of them. Over the last dozen contests, Walman has four goals and seven points while seeing action on the second power-play unit. He's also chipped in 14 PIM, 16 hits, 27 blocked shots, 32 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over that stretch, making Walman a fantasy asset in plenty of formats.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Completes Red Wings' comeback
Walman scored a goal in a 5-4 overtime win against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Walman scored at 2:13 of the overtime period, completing a comeback that saw Detroit emerge victorious after falling behind 4-0. It was Walman's second goal and third point in 17 games this season. The 26-year-old had three goals and 10 points in 51 contests last season and isn't expected to make regular offensive contributions in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less
