  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Allows one goal in win

Kochetkov allowed one goal on 23 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Stars. Kochetkov played a strong game, earning his third win in his last four outings. The 25-year-old netminder gave up the lone tally to Thomas Harley in the third period, but the Hurricanes regained the lead just 24 seconds later on a deflected goal. Kochetkov improved to 18-9-2 with a 2.47 GAA and a .904 save percentage over 30 appearances. If the Hurricanes continue to alternate goalie starts, Frederik Andersen would play Thursday at home versus the Blue Jackets and Kochetkov's next outing would be Saturday on the road against the Islanders.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Tending twine Tuesday

Kochetkov will start on the road against the Stars on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Kochetkov stopped 29 of 31 shots in a win over the Golden Knights on Friday. He has gone 3-2-1 with a 2.51 GAA and a .911 save percentage over six games in January. It appears the Hurricanes are alternating between Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen now, so the extra rest may help Kochetkov put in good performances on a more consistent basis.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Secures win over Vegas

Kochetkov stopped 29 of 31 shots in Friday's 3-2 win over the Golden Knights. Vegas scored the first and last goals of the game, but the Hurricanes had the three tallies in between to give Kochetkov enough support for the win. The 25-year-old has won just three of his last eight starts while giving up 22 goals in that span, and his margin of error is thinner now that Frederik Andersen (knee) is back from a nearly three-month absence. Kochetkov is up to 17-9-2 with a 2.52 GAA and a .902 save percentage through 29 starts this season, but he may get stuck in a 50-50 timeshare moving forward.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Expected to start Friday

Kochetkov is slated to start in Friday's home tilt against Vegas. Kochetkov has allowed three goals in each of his past four appearances while posting a 1-2-1 record and an .893 save percentage in that span. He's 16-9-2 with a 2.54 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 28 outings overall. Frederik Andersen (knee) was activated off injured reserve and is expected to serve as the backup netminder. Beyond that, Andersen's return will likely result in Kochetkov's workload diminishing meaningfully. A strong showing against Vegas might help Kochetkov stave that off for at least a little longer, but the Golden Knights rank fourth in goals per game with 3.41, so they're a challenging adversary.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Gives up three goals Sunday

Kochetkov stopped 17 of 20 shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks. Kochetkov hasn't been playing at his best of late, winning just one of his previous four starts, although the record doesn't tell the whole story here. He's recorded a save percentage of at least .880 in three of his last four outings despite going 1-2-1 with a 3.01 GAA in that span.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Facing Ducks

Kochetkov will protect the home net versus Anaheim on Sunday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Kochetkov is coming off a 30-save effort in Thursday's 6-3 win over Toronto. He has a 16-9-1 record with one shutout, a 2.52 GAA and a .902 save percentage through 27 appearances this season. Anaheim sits 31st in the league with 2.45 goals per game in 2024-25 and lost 6-0 against Philadelphia on Saturday.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Big saves preserve win

Kochetkov made 30 saves in a 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Nicholas Robertson beat him, but he then made some huge saves in the third to preserve the lead and get the win. Kochetkov has won just twice in his last six starts (2-3-1), and his overall stats (16-9-1, 2.52, .902) continue to fuel rumors the Canes will go shopping for net insurance before the deadline. If so, Kochetchov's value could take a hit.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to face Toronto

Kochetkov is expected to start in Thursday's home tilt against Toronto, according to Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Kochetkov has a 15-9-1 record, 2.50 GAA and .902 save percentage in 26 outings in 2024-25. He's struggled recently, allowing 14 goals on 136 shots (.897 save percentage) while earning just one win across his past five starts. The Maple Leafs rank 12th in goals per game with 3.14.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: First off Tuesday

Kochetkov was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he will defend the road net against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Kochetkov has one win in his last four outings (1-2-1) while allowing 11 goals on 103 shots. He has a 15-8-1 record with one shutout, a 2.48 GAA and a .901 save percentage across 25 appearances this season. Tampa Bay is tied for first in the league with 3.70 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Gets no help against Wild

Kochetkov allowed three goals on 26 shots in Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Wild. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. The Hurricanes were the second-best team on the ice all night, which doesn't happen often. Kochetkov received no support and couldn't slow down the Wild's top line, which combined for three goals and 10 points even sans Kirill Kaprizov (lower body). Kochetkov hasn't won consecutive outings since the start of December, going 5-6-1 over his last 12 starts. He's now 15-8-1 with a 2.48 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 25 appearances.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Starting vs. Minnesota

Kochetkov will guard the home net Saturday against the Wild, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. It'll be the third straight start for Kochetkov, who's coming off a 25-save effort in a 3-1 win over Florida on Thursday. The 25-year-old netminder is 15-7-1 with a .902 save percentage and 2.46 GAA this season.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Stifles Florida for win No. 15

Kochetkov turned aside 25 shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Panthers. An Anton Lundell tally early in the second period spoiled his shutout bid, but otherwise Kochetkov was sharp as he collected his 15th win of the season. The 25-year-old goalie has allowed three goals or less in seven of his last eight starts, going 4-3-1 over that stretch with a 2.02 GAA and .919 save percentage, and a prolonged absence for Frederik Andersen (knee) has given Kochetkov the opportunity to cement his hold on the top job in the Carolina crease.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Tending twine Friday

Kochetkov will protect the road goal versus the Devils on Friday. Kochetkov has alternated wins and losses over his last eight starts, with a mediocre .902 save percentage but a strong 2.45 GAA in that span. The 25-year-old netminder is entrenched as the Hurricanes' No. 1 goalie and should continue to see a fairly heavy workload. However, it'll probably be Dustin Tokarski in the second half of the home-and-home set when the Hurricanes host the Devils on Saturday.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Effective against Rangers

Kochetkov turned aside 22 of 23 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers. Kochetkov has alternated wins and losses over his eight starts since returning from a four-game absence due to a concussion. After earning his first shutout win of the season Tuesday against the Islanders, he turned aside 19 of 22 shots in a loss to the Capitals on Friday, but he bounced back in the first half of a back-to-back set Sunday. It seems likely that Dustin Tokarski will tend the twine in the second half of the back-to-back set Monday against the Predators, so Kochetkov will likely have several days off before returning to action following the league's holiday break.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Minimal offensive support in defeat

Kochetkov conceded three goals on 22 shots in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals. Kochetkov turned in a solid performance Friday in a goaltender duel against Charlie Lindgren, but the Hurricanes weren't able to muster up enough offensive support for their netminder. Kochetkov hasn't been able to get into a groove lately, as he's alternated wins and losses over seven appearances in December. The 25-year-old is sporting a 13-6-0 record, .900 save percentage and 2.51 GAA through 20 appearances. Carolina has had five different goaltenders make an appearance in 2024-25, but Kochetkov has been the only one to start in at least eight games.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to face Washington

Kochetkov is expected to start in goal on the road against Washington on Friday, per Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. Kochetkov has a 13-5-0 record, 2.47 GAA and .902 save percentage in 19 outings in 2024-25. He's coming off a 32-save shutout victory over the Islanders on Tuesday. The Capitals are a difficult adversary, as they rank second in the NHL with 3.81 goals per game.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Starting versus Senators

Kochetkov will guard the home goal versus the Senators on Friday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Kochetkov will look to win consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 17 and 20. The 25-year-old has gone 2-2-0 with 13 goals allowed on 95 shots over his last four outings. The Senators have scored 21 goals over their last seven games, going 4-2-1 in that span.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Collects 12th win

Kochetkov stopped 21 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Sharks. He gave up tallies to Luke Kunin in the first and second periods, but Kochetkov shut the door in the third as Carolina rallied from a one-goal deficit. The 25-year-old netminder has alternated wins and losses over four starts since returning from a concussion, and on the season he's 12-4-0 over 17 appearances with a 2.64 GAA and .894 save percentage. With Frederik Andersen (knee) not expected back until some time in February, Kochetkov should continue to see a heavy workload.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Back in win column Thursday

Kochetkov made 16 saves in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche. Artturi Lehkonen opened the scoring midway through the first period, but the Hurricanes took control of the game in the middle frame, and Kochetkov never relinquished the lead. It was the 25-year-old netminder's first win since Nov. 20, and in two starts since returning from a concussion, Kochetkov has given up seven goals on only 47 shots (.851 save percentage). With Frederik Andersen on the shelf after knee surgery and lacking a clear return date, Carolina may have to give the recently signed Dustin Tokarski more work than the team intended if Kochetkov doesn't regain his form quickly.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to face Colorado

Kochetkov is expected to start at home against Colorado on Thursday, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer. Kochetkov has a 10-3-0 record, 2.55 GAA and .900 save percentage across 14 outings in 2024-25. He missed four straight games due to a concussion but returned Tuesday, stopping 24 of 28 shots en route to a 4-2 loss to Seattle. The Avalanche are a difficult adversary, ranking 10th in goals per game with 3.27.
