Lemieux set up Dmitry Orlov on a breakaway for the opening goal midway through the first period before adding a tally of his own in the third, deflecting a Brent Burns shot to extend Carolina's lead to 7-2. It's the first multi-point effort of the season for Lemieux, whose last goal was Nov. 28 versus the Flyers. He now has three goals and five points through 27 games this season while frequently serving as a healthy scratch -- a role he'll likely return to when Jack Drury (lower body) and Teuvo Teravainen (upper body) are both healthy.
Lemieux signed a one-year, $775,000 contract extension with Carolina on Monday.
Lemieux has two goals, one assist, 55 PIM and 58 hits in 25 appearances with the Hurricanes this season. He has mostly served as a depth option this campaign, which will likely be the case again in 2024-25.

Lemieux might have been waived just to give Carolina more roster flexibility ahead of Friday's trade deadline. However, given that he hasn't been in the lineup since Feb. 8, it also wouldn't be shocking to see the Hurricanes reassign him to the AHL if he passes through waivers unclaimed. Lemieux has two goals, three points, 50 PIM and 53 hits in 23 outings with the Hurricanes this season.
Lemieux was handed a 10-minute misconduct penalty at the end of Thursday's clash with Colorado.
It was the third misconduct penalty of the season for Lemieux, who has racked up a combined 50 PIM in 23 games this year. Offensively, the 27-year-old winger has tallied just two goals and one assist while averaging 7:41 of ice time. As a result, Lemieux figures to remain a relative non-factor in fantasy contests.
