Sabres' Eric Comrie: Tough night against Wings
Comrie stopped 22 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Detroit.
The Red Wings' final goal was scored into an empty net. Detroit scored four straight goals to begin the game before Buffalo's offense woke up late in the second period -- to his credit, Comrie kept the visitors off the board during the comeback attempt. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old netminder has lost four straight appearances since returning from a lower-body injury in mid-November, stumbling to a woeful 5.17 GAA and .827 save percentage during that time.

Sabres' Eric Comrie: Losses keep stacking up
Comrie allowed six goals on 35 shots in a 6-2 loss to Carolina on Saturday.
Comrie hasn't won since Oct. 21, and he has a miserable 1-4-0 record, 3.99 GAA and .864 save percentage. "I don't think I was good enough tonight for the team," Comrie said after the game. "I don't feel like I gave the team enough of a chance to win. I'll take the blame myself there." But the Sabres couldn't tickle twine more than twice in support. Comrie does need to sharpen his game and fast. The Sabres recently sent Devon Levi to the AHL, and he was excellent in his debut Friday. The pressure is on for Comrie to improve.

Sabres' Eric Comrie: Starting versus Hurricanes
Comrie will protect the road goal versus the Hurricanes on Saturday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
Comrie was pulled in his last start after allowing four goals on 17 shots versus the Devils last Saturday. The 28-year-old goalie hasn't earned a win in his last four outings, allowing 12 goals over that span. The Hurricanes are 4-1-1 over their last six games, which could present a challenge for Comrie given his lack of success lately.

Sabres' Eric Comrie: Yanked after one frame
Comrie made 14 saves on 18 shots and was replaced by Devon Levi to start the second period of Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Devils.
The loss was self-inflicted, not by Comrie or Levi, but by the queasy effort of the Sabres overall. They got just 12 shots on the net at the end of the ice over three periods, and their miserable first period had them down 4-0. Comrie gets limited ice time and starts because of the three-headed monster in the Buffalo net. There's some thought that Comrie may be the odd man out, leaving Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Levi as the lone wolves in the NHL net. Don't jump on that yet -- official news about netminding will be slow to come and may involve sending Levi down for the betterment of his development.

Comrie allowed three goals on 18 shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Jets.
Comrie missed three weeks with a lower-body injury, but his return to the crease was uninspiring. This was his fourth appearance of the campaign, and he's yielded nine goals on 88 shots in those outings. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen did alright when Comrie and Devon Levi were both injured, but the Sabres' goaltending usage figures to be tough to predict now that all three are healthy.

Comrie (lower body) is close to returning and will travel with the Sabres on their upcoming road trip, which begins with a contest in Winnipeg on Friday, according to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.

Once he's healthy, Comrie will compete for starts with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi. The 28-year-old Comrie had gone 1-1-0 with a .914 save percentage to start the season. Sabres' Eric Comrie: Fills in admirably in home loss
Comrie allowed three goals on 27 shots in Monday's 3-1 loss against the Canadiens.
Comrie was filling in for Devon Levi (lower body), who is expected to miss at least one more game. Comrie was plagued by poor starts in the first and third periods, allowing early goals in each period. He gave up a power-play goal late in the third period, too, but that wasn't really his fault. It's more than likely with a quick turnaround that Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is tabbed for the start Tuesday against the Senators.

Comrie made 24 saves in a 3-1 win over the Islanders on Saturday.
It was his first start of the season, and he was dialed in -- Comrie came within 1:21 of a shutout. Noah Dobson sent a point shot toward him that deflected off Sabres defender Connor Clifton and into the net. Comrie played well enough to earn another start, but with a crowded net, the Sabres may opt to get Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen his first start when they play Montreal at home on Monday.
