  • Rangers' Nick Bonino: Signing with Rangers

Bonino signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with the Rangers on Saturday, per Dan Rosen of NHL.com.

Bonino should slot in as the Rangers' fourth-line center after posting 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 62 games between the Sharks and Penguins last season. The 35-year-old pivot has 158 goals and 195 assists in his 15-year NHL career.

  • Penguins' Nick Bonino: Lifted from LTIR

Bonino (kidney laceration) was activated from long-term injured reserve Tuesday, per CapFriendly.

Bonino wasn't in the lineup past March 9 due to the injury, and the Penguins missing the playoffs meant he didn't get a chance to return. The 35-year-old forward is set to be a free agent this summer, and it's possible a number of teams would be interested in signing him as a solid defensive center in a bottom-six role. He had 19 points in 62 contests between the Sharks and the Penguins in 2022-23.

Bonino (kidney laceration) was placed on long-term injured reserve Saturday, retroactive to March 9.

Bonino is eligible to return for the final two games of the regular season but that isn't a sure thing. Bonino underwent surgery following his injury versus the Islanders and there is currently no timetable for his return. He has 10 goals and 19 points in 62 games this season.

Bonino (kidney laceration) is out week-to-week, according to coach Mike Sullivan, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bonino was injured Thursday against the Islanders and underwent surgery. He was picked up at the trade deadline and managed to get into three games with the Penguins, averaging 9:50 TOI per game without a point. Bonino had 10 goals and 19 points in 59 games with the Sharks before the trade. He is expected to be released from the hospital Saturday.

  • Penguins' Nick Bonino: Sent to Pittsburgh

The Penguins acquired Bonino from the Sharks in exchange for Arvid Henrikson, a conditional 2024 fifth-round selection and a 2023 seventh-round pick Friday.

Montreal was also involved in the trade to help with the Penguins' salary-cap situation, picking up Tony Sund and the Sharks' fifth-round pick in 2024 in the process. Bonino played a couple of seasons with Pittsburgh back in the team's Stanley Cup winning seasons of 2015-16 and 2016-17. The 34-year-old has 10 goals and 19 points in 59 games this season.

Bonino provided an assist in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Capitals.

Bonino ended a three-game point drought when he set up Tomas Hertl's tally late in the game. The 34-year-old Bonino has had a couple of bursts of offense this season, but he's more of a defensive center who won't help much in fantasy. He's at 18 points, 67 shots on net, 68 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating through 51 outings.

  • Sharks' Nick Bonino: Scoring up lately

Bonino found the back of the net in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

Sharks rookie Mikey Eyssimont delivered a nice feed to Bonino on a breakaway to level the score with 13:10 remaining in the third period. Team Teal ultimately fell short, but fantasy managers shouldn't lose sight of how well Bonino has played lately. The third-line pivot has five goals, three assists and a plus-4 rating through 12 contests this month.

The 34-year-old is at five tallies, 12 points, 54 shots on net, 57 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating through 40 outings as a mainly defensive forward in the Sharks' middle six.

  • Sharks' Nick Bonino: Slides helper in win

Bonino provided an assist in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Bonino ended a three-game point drought with the helper. With the Sharks' top six all available again, the 34-year-old has been shuffled down to the third line in recent contests. That reduced role figures to limit his offense. He's at four goals, six helpers, 45 shots on net, 53 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 36 appearances.

Bonino snapped a three-game point drought when he helped out on Timo Meier's second-period tally. With Tomas Hertl (suspension) out for the last two games, Bonino played as a top-six center. He'll likely shift back to either a second-line winger or third-line center role after the holiday break since Hertl's suspension is over. Bonino has four goals, five helpers, 42 shots on net, a minus-6 rating and 49 blocked shots through 32 outings this season.

Bonino scored a goal on two shots, supplied an assist, went plus-2 and added two PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Coyotes.

Bonino went from goalless to four-game scoring streak in a little over a week. The 34-year-old continues to thrive on the Sharks' second line, where he can play a steady two-way game. • Sharks' Nick Bonino: Scores empty-netter

Bonino scored an empty-net goal and blocked two shots in Friday's 6-1 win over the Ducks.

Bonino has now scored in three straight games, accounting for all of his goals this season. He continues to see steady middle-six usage, and his success on offense lately has earned him a spot on the second power-play unit again. The 34-year-old has six points, 33 shots on net, 39 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 27 appearances.

  • Sharks' Nick Bonino: Tallies again Wednesday

Bonino scored a goal on six shots in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Canucks.

Bonino began the year with no goals in 24 games, but he's now scored in back-to-back contests. It took him just 18 seconds to light the lamp Wednesday. The 34-year-old continues to bounce between third-line center and second-line winger -- he'd have more usefulness in the latter spot, which he occupied in this game. For the season, Bonino has five points, 32 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating, so most fantasy managers can find more productive depth scorers elsewhere.

  • Sharks' Nick Bonino: Gets first goal of season

Bonino scored a goal in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Sabres.

Bonino had picked up three assists in 16 games since the start of November before finally getting his first goal of the year Sunday. The 34-year-old has four points, a minus-7 rating, 26 shots on net, 36 blocked shots and eight PIM in 25 outings overall. He's more of a defensive center, so there's little reason to track his production in most fantasy formats.
