Maple Leafs' Garrett Wilson: Shipped down to minors
Wilson (hamstring) was placed on waivers Monday in order to reassign him to the minors.
Wilson dealt with a hamstring injury throughout the preseason, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see him dropped down to the minors. Once the winger can prove he is fully fit, he figures to be in contention for a spot in the lineup and could earn a call-up sooner rather than later.

Maple Leafs' Garrett Wilson: Slated to miss bulk of camp
Wilson (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined for most of training camp, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Even fully fit, Wilson was going to be hard pressed to break into the Leafs' lineup for Opening Night against the Senators on Oct. 2. There is an outside chance he could still end up on the 23-man roster, but fellow new additions Pontus Aberg, Ilya Mikheyev and Kalle Kossila, not to mention returner Frederik Gauthier, will likely pass Wilson over while he is recovering. Look for Wilson to begin the year in the minors with AHL Toronto, and likely spend the bulk of the season there as well.

Maple Leafs' Garrett Wilson: Dealing with hamstring issue
Wilson will miss part of Toronto's training camp due to a hamstring injury, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
Wilson was already a longshot to be included in the lineup for the Maple Leafs' regular-season opener against the Senators on Oct. 2, and this injury certainly won't help his chances. Another update on the 28-year-old winger's status should emerge once he's cleared to join his teammates on the ice at camp, which will get underway Sept. 13.

Maple Leafs' Garrett Wilson: Secures one-year deal
Wilson agreed to terms on a one-year, $700,000 contract with Toronto on Wednesday.
After two seasons without an NHL appearance, Wilson played in 50 games for Pittsburgh last year, in which he tallied two goals, six assists and 54 shots while averaging just 7:37 of ice time. The 28-year-old is far from a lock for ice time with the Leafs and will have to make his case with a strong showing in training camp. Even if he is in the lineup for Opening Night versus Ottawa on Oct. 2, the winger will almost certainly find himself serving as a healthy scratch periodically throughout the 2019-20 campaign.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Strong game Sunday
Wilson scored just his second goal of the season in Sunday's win over the Hurricanes.
Wilson and his fourth line teammates Matt Cullen and Adam Johnson were all over the ice. Wilson had four shots on goal, three hits and a blocked shot in 8:49 of ice time.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Sees minimal ice time
Wilson logged a mere 4:50 of ice time versus the Panthers on Tuesday.
Given his lack of minutes, it shouldn't come as a shock to see Wilson bogged down in an eight-game pointless streak. The winger shouldn't expect to see many opportunities down the stretch and could get bounced from the lineup once Bryan Rust (lower body) is cleared to return.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Tallies first NHL goal
Wilson scored his first career NHL goal in a 5-4 loss to the Lightning on Saturday.
The 27-year-old played 59 NHL games without a goal prior to Saturday night, so the score was pretty well deserved. Wilson still isn't somebody that owners in standard leagues should be concerned about, but the Penguins' fourth line has played very well as of late, and Wilson has a goal and four points in the last nine contests. Overall, he has a goal and six points in 26 games this season.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Garners helper
Wilson snagged an assist in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Lightning.
Wilson has two points in his previous four contests, despite logging a mere 8:07 of ice time per game. The winger isn't expected to offer much offensively slotted into a fourth-line role and could find himself on the outside looking in once Derick Brassard (upper body) and Zach Aston-Reese (undisclosed) are both back in the lineup.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Called up from minors
Wilson was promoted from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday.
With news that Zach Aston-Reese (undisclosed) is facing a potentially lengthy absence, the Penguins added Wilson to the 23-man roster to give themselves some extra forward depth. Who slots into the open fourth-line role will come down to Wilson or Derek Grant.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Shipped down to minors
Wilson was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Wilson's demotion is a good indicator that Dominik Simon (lower body) will be activated off injured reserve prior to puck drop versus Minnesota on Thursday. In 14 appearances this season, the 27-year-old Wilson notched a pair of assists, four PIM and 10 shots, while averaging a mere 7:30 of ice time. If the Penguins can stay healthy, the Ontario native figures to spend the rest of the year in the minors, though he should sit near the top of the short list of potential call-ups.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Expected to play Wednesday
Wilson is slated to remain in the lineup for the Penguins against the Capitals on Wednesday after clearing waivers, per Jonathan Bombulie of TribLive.com.
Wilson's placement on waivers gives Pittsburgh the necessary roster flexibility to activate Dominik Simon (lower body) from injured reserve, but it appears that won't be needed ahead of Wednesday's tilt. The news doesn't bode well for Wilson's long-term outlook this season, as he figures to be shipped back to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton if the Pens' forwards can all get healthy.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Lands on waivers
Wilson was placed on waivers by the Penguins on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Wilson's impending move back to the minors -- assuming he clears waivers -- is a pretty good indication Patric Hornqvist (upper body) or Dominik SImon (lower body) will be activated off injured reserve ahead of Wednesday's matchup with Washington. In 13 games this season, the 27-year-old Wilson tallied two points, 10 shots and 35 hits while averaging 7:18 of ice time. The winger figures to spend the bulk of the rest of the season in the minors with the Baby Pens.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Bussed back to Pittsburgh
Wilson was called up from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday.
The Penguins aren't confident that Patric Hornqvist (undisclosed) will be fit to play in Saturday's home game against the Blue Jackets, hence their decision to promote Wilson from the minors. The 27-year-old hasn't recorded a single point over 38 NHL contests between the Panthers and Penguins, so he's clearly someone to avoid in all fantasy leagues.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Reassigned to minors
Wilson was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday.
Wilson's demotion corresponds to Derick Brassard (lower body) getting taken off injured reserve for the evening's road contest against the Senators. The former has yet to record a point through 38 career NHL contests between the Panthers and Penguins.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Promoted to big club
The Penguins recalled Wilson from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
Wilson has been highly productive in the bus league this campaign, racking up six goals and 11 points in 11 appearances. He'll round out the Penguins' depth up front for the foreseeable future, but he hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2015-16, which may not change during this stint with the big club.

Wilson was sent down to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Wilson spent just a couple days with the big club before being sent back down. He didn't play in the three games he spent with Pittsburgh.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Promoted to big club
The Penguins recalled Wilson from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Bryan Rust (upper body) is dealing with a long-term injury, so Wilson will round out the Penguins depth up front for the foreseeable future. The 26-year-old winger has notched six goals and 14 points in 25 games with the Baby Pens this season.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Gets placed on waivers
Wilson was placed on waivers by the Penguins on Tuesday, James Mirtle of The Athleticreports.
Wilson spent all of 2016-17 in the AHL, where he notched 11 goals and 20 assists in 59 outings for the Baby Pens. The winger will start the upcoming season with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton once again, but he could earn the occasional call-up this year.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Inks two-year extension
Wilson signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Penguins on Friday that will net him $650,000 at the NHL level, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Wilson spent nearly the entire 2016-17 campaign in the AHL, notching 31 points over 59 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton affiliate. Given the number of players departing from the defending champs, Wilson could stand an outside shot of snagging an Opening Night roster spot if he proves worthy during training camp. However, it's unlikely the 26-year-old will gain fantasy relevance considering he has never tallied a point at the top level.

Penguins' Garrett Wilson: Placed on waivers
Wilson was waived by the Penguins along with six others in order to reassign them to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
Wilson was having a strong camp, including a two-goal performance against the Red Wings on Sept. 27, but will be reassigned to the minors if he is unclaimed. Along with Wilson, the Pens also waived Tim Erixon, Stuart Percy, Cameron Gaunce, Reid McNeill, Steve Oleksy, and Chad Ruhwedel.
