Senators' Claude Giroux: Sets new career high in goals
Giroux scored his 35th goal of the season in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sabres.
His tally midway through the second period gave Ottawa a 3-2 lead, but the team couldn't hold it. Giroux was rejuvenated by his move to the Senators -- the 35-year-old's 35 goals are a career high, topping the 34 he scored back in 2017-18 for Philly, and his 79 points is his best total since 2018-19.

Giroux tallied two goals and added an assist in Monday's 3-2 win over the Hurricanes.
Giroux opened the scoring 5:51 into the first period before assisting on Tim Stutzle's goal later in the frame. Giroux (illness) is back at practice Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Giroux missed practice Wednesday as he was under the weather. He has not found the back of the net in his last nine games, but does have five assists. Giroux has 28 goals and 71 points in 74 games this season, his best year since 2018-19 when he had 85 points for the Flyers.

Giroux is under the weather and missed practice Wednesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Giroux is currently stuck in a nine-game goal drought but has racked up 28 shots and five assists over that stretch. Despite the goal slump, the veteran should be capable of offering top-half fantasy value if he can suit up versus the Flyers on Thursday. If not, Mathieu Joseph or Drake Batherson could be in line for a promotion to the top trio.
