49ers' Alfred Collins: Expects return for training camp
Collins (calf) will be back on the practice field during training camp, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
It's not entirely clear what happened to Collins, but at this point it doesn't seem to be anything too severe. The rookie will miss valuable learning opportunities during minicamp this week, however. As long as he's available, the 2025 second-round pick should play a notable role on San Francisco's defensive line.

49ers' Alfred Collins: Heads west to Niners in Round 2
The 49ers selected Collins in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 43rd overall.
Collins (6-foot-6, 332 pounds) is an enormous defensive tackle from Texas who boasts both extreme mass and reach (34 and 5/8-inch arms), giving him the ability to occupy blockers and disrupt passing lanes with his hands. Collins might lack the range necessary to play a three-down role, however, and he could end up a rotational run-stopping specialist instead of a true starter. Collins is unlikely to emerge as an IDP option in most formats.
