Player Outlook
Billed as a toolsy prospect, Levis failed to show almost any rushing or big passing play upside during his final season at Kentucky in 2022. Some of that has been attributed to a lack of talent around him and a coaching change, but make no mistake - Levis is a developmental prospect. Unless Ryan Tannehill gets injured again or the Titans fall out of contention (something that hasn't happened in the Mike Vrabel era), Levis is unlikely to make a Fantasy impact in 2023. In one-QB rookie-only drafts, he's worth considering in Round 3, while two-QB formats could take him in Round 2.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Third quarterback to begin career

Levis (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints. Levis will serve as the Titans' third quarterback, with Malik Willis instead serving as Ryan Tannehill's backup. Levis missed two of the team's three preseason games with a thigh injury, so this decision doesn't come as a significant surprise.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Returns to practice

Levis (thigh) is practicing Thursday, Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com reports. Levis has missed some time due to the injury during training camp, including the team's final preseason contest against the Patriots on Friday. However, the 2023 second-round selection appears to be healthy once again. which is good news for the Kentucky product, although it's still unclear whether he or Malik Willis has earned the No. 2 quarterback role behind incumbent starter Ryan Tannehill.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Expected to practice this week

Coach Mike Vrabel said Monday he expects Levis (thigh) to resume practicing this week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Vrabel said the rookie second-round pick has done a good job maintaining focus despite sitting out Friday's preseason finale against the Patriots. Levis has spent the summer competing with Malik Willis for the No. 2 quarterback gig behind Ryan Tannehill.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Not expected to play Friday

Levis (thigh) isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason finale against New England, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Levis returned to practice Wednesday and told reporters he expected to play Friday, but the Titans apparently will hold him out. Ryan Tannehill likely will start and play a bit before handing things over to Malik Willis for the rest of the night. Willis and Levis have been competing for the No. 2 QB job all summer.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Back at practice Wednesday

Levis (lower body) returned to practice Wednesday and expects to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Patriots, Ben Arthur of Fox Sports reports. Levis missed Tennessee's second preseason game, but the rookie second-round pick still has a chance to beat out second-year pro Malik Willis in the battle for the backup job behind starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Willis didn't help his case with Levis out, throwing for just 85 yards while playing the entire game against the Vikings on Aug. 19.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Struggles in preseason debut

Levis completed nine of 14 pass attempts for 85 yards and one interception in Tennessee's preseason game against Chicago on Saturday. Levis played off the bench while Malik Willis started, but the two went on to rotate between several series at a time. Preseason rarely offers conclusive insights and this game is no exception, so it's probably best not to read into the results too much. With that said, it seems Levis fared a little more poorly than Willis, who completed 16 of 25 pass attempts for 189 yards and one interception while adding 22 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Both quarterbacks badly struggled with managing the pass rush, yet Willis' four sacks versus 25 pass attempts doesn't look quite as bad as Levis' four sacks versus 14 pass attempts. The competition to back up Ryan Tannehill figures to go on between Levis and Willis for some time.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Working with third-string offense

Levis has been running the third-string offense in practice while Malik Willis is working with the second-string offense, Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reports. Levis still has an uphill climb to win the backup spot behind Ryan Tannehill. However, the 33rd overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft has been closing ground and could potentially leapfrog Willis with a strong performance in the preseason, starting with Saturday's game against the Bears. Willis was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and while he started three games as a rookie, he struggled to a 0:3 TD:INT. Rexrode notes that Levis is far ahead of where Willis was at this point as a rookie.

  • Titans' Will Levis: Winning over teammates

Levis has had an inconsistent rookie training camp but has shown leadership qualities, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Wyatt reported a specific story during two-minute drills Friday, when Levis scrambled up the middle for a nice gain. Derrick Henry was quick to congratulate him on the play, which Wyatt used as an example of the rookie winning over some of the veterans on the team. Levis is in competition with Malik Willis for the backup quarterback job, though that likely won't be settled until at least a couple of preseason games occur.
